“There, peeping among the cloud-wrack above a dark tor high up in the mountains, Sam saw a white star twinkle for a while. The beauty of it smote his heart, as he looked up out of the forsaken land, and hope returned to him. For like a shaft, clear and cold, the thought pierced him that in the end the Shadow was only a small and passing thing: there was light and high beauty for ever beyond its reach.”

I saw this at another forum, and I thought people here would get a kick out of it.
Quest for Middle-earth
Make sure you click on the "About the Author" page, as well as reading the first chapter (if you dare).

"Spirits in the shape of hawks and eagles flew ever to and from his halls; and their eyes could see to the depths of the seas, and pierce the hidden caverns beneath the world."

Anyone who starts their quest for Middle Earth in Chichen Itza has missed the boat. Literally. The New World? Seriously?
But yeah, okay, so I know they have an agenda of the-aliens-made-me-do-it, and the aliens are more likely to show up there - but at least start with Stonehenge, or something vaguely close to Oxford! At least pretend that you are basing this on, you know, the actual book (though it seems clear that he's using Jackson's movie as his primary source, not the text ~ easier that way, I suppose).
Thanks for sharing, Voronwë. It is amusing, in a painful way....

This is a long one, but well worth it if you are/were an RGP gamer.
