We have a few redwoods in our yard (Dawn redwoods) but I doubt they'll ever be as majestic as those V. They kinda die back in the winter.

Here are a few photos from my walk today. It's pretty cold, but the setting sun was shining.

I like the way the sun pokes through the trees.

I saw so many hawks today including one that flew not more than 5 feet in front of me while I was riding my bike. Wow! Obviously there was no way to get a picture of that one but here is the best one that I was able to get

Wow! There you are, on top of the world! Or at least at the top of Haleakala. Nice.

We've been to Maui twice, but we've never gone to the crater. We've been almost everywhere else on the island.
Here's a photo of a walk we took on the Northwest side. I like geological formations and I this lava flow kinda reminded me of walking into the jaws of some ancient giant dragon. :D

This may be a long shot but does anyone have pictures of a desolate landscape, preferably with a volcano in the background?

It's a long shot because people don't tend to take vacations in places like that...

How desolate? How volcanic (does it need to be active)? Is there a feel you're going for? A color/tone?
