Thanks! I recently purchased 'Tales from the Perilous Realm,“ and read “Leaf by Niggle.“ I 'fell in love' with that story and have read it three times in a couple of weeks. It means a lot to me, as I also Niggle at things. The story gave me hope!

It's the first non-Legendarium story of Tolkien that I've read. I am so glad that I got a copy of “Tales...“ as I now appreciate Tolkien much more. It's one thing to say that you love his works if all you've read is from the Legendarium; but to read something outside of it and get “Wowed!” is very pleasing and satisfying.

'Leaf by Niggle' is my co-favorite non-legendarium story by Tolkien. My other co-favorite is 'Smith of Wooten Major'. Taken together they very much capture Tolkien's essence. But that is beyond the scope of this Welcome forum!

Smith of Wooten Major and Farmer Giles of Ham! (his poor dog. lol)
The dumbest thing I've ever bought
was a 2020 planner.

"Does anyone ever think about Denethor, the guy driven to madness by staying up late into the night alone in the dark staring at a flickering device he believed revealed unvarnished truth about the outside word, but which in fact showed mostly manipulated media created by a hostile power committed to portraying nothing but bad news framed in the worst possible way in order to sap hope, courage, and the will to go on? Seems like he's someone we should think about." - Dave_LF

Her name is the 'newest member' at the bottom of the forum. :)
