Thanks, Rose! :D It switched from silver to gold when my streak hit 50.

I took a look at this week's deluxe waffle and started trying to map out a solution—I have to write down the words I think are the answers or I won't be able to keep them all straight in my head—but it gave me a headache, so I'll have to come back to it another day.

The Deluxe waffle was a tough one this week (I thought).

I've generally used a 2 word starting strategy. I've tried different words:
Hidden text.
Originally I used 'STERN' and 'DAILY' but recently I've been using 'CRANE' and 'SLIPT'' although I have tried other combinations and mix it up from time to time depending upon the first word results/whimsy :D .

I used to use as many as four starting words in Wordle (five in the likes of Quordle and Octordle), but eventually that started to get dull so I switched to playing in hard mode, which precludes that strategy. Though I have kept using the same initial word everywhere. :)

I eventually gave up on trying to figure out all the words for this week's Deluxe Waffle in advance, and just started shifting letters around and seeing what happened. I consider myself lucky to come away with any stars at all. :P

I've also been playing around with Letter Garden. I got up to level 12 on my most recent (and most successful) try before failing to advance, though I had to rely on the hint button on several levels, which I had wanted to avoid.

With the limited amount of time given, it's hard not to rely on the hint button from time to time although I often dismiss it for a better option. One nice thing about the hint option is that it can help you learn new words that the game accepts that you may not have known on your own.

On very rare occasion I've come up with a large/high point word, but mostly they are in the 3-6 letter range. I think my highest word was 'QUESTIONED' for 340 points. I'm not likely to get that combination/chance again. I've been playing for a long time.

Damn! I don't think I've had a word longer than six letters so far, though I've only just recently started playing. I was using my laptop's trackpad tonight, which felt slower than when I was borrowing a corded mouse last week. (Using one consistently for the first time in years made me realize I kinda missed having a physical mouse, so I ordered one on Amazon after returning home. It should be here tomorrow :smilespin:). However, that seemed not to hold me back tonight. I imagine that improvement is just down to practice and starting to get a grasp of rudimentary strategy.

Yes, your pace and strategy will improve with playing. Also, 3 or more consecutive same letters in a row can be played as a 'word' if, for example, you have a lot of extra 't's that you have no use for.

I RARELY get a word longer than.. oh, say 6-ish letters. There just isn't time AND it's not a good strategy for this particular game. You are far better off clearing the board as quickly as possible with as few remaining tiles as possible.

This is very good to know, thank you! I think it'll be especially useful in the endgame, when I often find myself drowning in consonants.

In my first tentative forays into Letter Garden, I found myself instinctively starting in the upper left corner and working my way all the way across horizontally before moving down. It took me a few times to even start paying attention to clearing columns as well as rows; I think my first cleared column was by accident! I'm getting quicker at keeping my eyes continuously moving around the board, though.

You were lucky Inanna because the options (at least my options) were tough! I count the number of letters from the word options and try to find a word to fit all of the highest possibilities. :D
