Kelli Ward, the chair of the Republican Party in Arizona, invoked her Fifth Amendment rights when questioned by the January 6th Committee and is still fighting to prevent the Committee from obtaining her phone records.

Edited to add: In what appears to be more post-2020 election news, Maggie Haberman's book indicates that President Donald Trump withheld funding for Vice President Mike Pence's post-administration office at right around the time Trump really wanted Pence to overturn the results of the 2020 election. Several people have pointed out that this sounds a lot like what Trump did to Ukraine.

CNN reported last night that House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, the California Republican who hopes to be Speaker in January, "told two police officers last summer in a private meeting that Donald Trump had no idea his supporters were attacking the Capitol on January 6." And there's audio of that conversation. What a lying coward.

Anyone want to take bets as to how likely it is that this will ever happen?

Yes, there were credible threats of violence made weeks before Jan. 6 (violence), and one might wonder, in view of these alarming and credible threats, why the Capitol Police found themselves so unprepared on that day, and why Pelosi turned down Trump's offer of National Guard troops. These are the sorts of questions that would be examined in an actual hearing with genuine representatives of both parties, whose aim was to understand what happened that day rather than to shape a fictitious narrative to prevent Trump from holding office again.

I've yet to see evidence of Speaker Pelosi turning down an offer of National Guard troops in advance of January 6th. It's not mentioned in this piece in the Washington Post from last December that discusses the Pentagon's planning for that day's events.

And in today's hearing, as noted below, we got further confirmation that on January 6th itself, Pelosi was actively seeking National Guard support (as Trump did nothing to help), and Republican Congressional leadership was in the room when she did so, and later those same Republicans pushed the false claim about Pelosi rejecting such support:

While I don't condone violence, and I don't think Pelosi would actually have pummeled Trump in cold blood, I do appreciate how that situation could push her to say something like that and also that she acknowledged the consequences for herself.

And as I have previously noted, if he actually had gone to the Capitol, we might have had a gunfight between the Secret Service and the Capitol Police.

Some documentary footage subpoenaed by the January 6th Committee but not used by them shows Roger Stone referring to Ivanka Trump as the the-president's "abortionist bitch daughter." Stone is said to have been upset not to have been issued a second pardon by Donald Trump. Is that the pardon found among the documents at Mar-a-Lago?

With everything that happened yesterday (1/6 hearing, voting to subpoena Trump, SCOTUS rejecting Trump's attempt to get the classified documents) this might have been the most important thing.
