Leonard Cohen is gone

Died today at the age of 82. I'm feeling such profound sadness.



Another drop of bitterness added to this annus horribilis.
Mornings wouldn't suck so badly if they came later in the day.

Shouldn't this be in the Cottage? Or am I missing something?

Thanks, Prim. I should also note that I removed a post that I made because in an apparent senior moment I posted the exact same video that Impy had already posted.

What a loss. A little more light gone out of the world. :(

I can't see the SNL video, as I'm in the wrong country. :( Anyone have another link?

They're holding a candelight vigil on the doorstep of Leonard's home in Montreal, and PM Justin Trudeau has commented on what a great loss his death is: http://montrealgazette.com/entertainmen ... dead-at-82 The linked article from the Gazette provides an excellent summary of his life and career.

Apparently, Cohen had cancer, and was suffering a great deal of pain from compression fractures in his spine: :(

Several of my family members have been in deep mourning over Leonard Cohen’s death. For my father, my aunt (his sister), and my eldest cousin (her daughter) the music of Cohen was an integral part of their own lives. My dad’s favorite song is “Famous Blue Raincoat”.

My aunt saw Cohen live for the first time in 1979 when she was just fifteen years old. She had to convince my grandfather to take her to Munich for the concert; so, she crossed border for Cohen. ^^

Thanksgiving. Whole family, ages 9 to 79, gathered around the piano--and my daughter picked up the viola and our uncle the guitar--and we all sang a couple of glorious, heartfelt rounds of Hallelujah, and it was so sad and so sweet.

I watched Justice League last night. Rubbish movie, but this Leonard Cohen Cover at the beginning was brilliant.
