You wish, Faramond! =:)
but being a cheerful hobbit he had not needed hope, as long as despair could be postponed.

“There, peeping among the cloud-wrack above a dark tor high up in the mountains, Sam saw a white star twinkle for a while. The beauty of it smote his heart, as he looked up out of the forsaken land, and hope returned to him. For like a shaft, clear and cold, the thought pierced him that in the end the Shadow was only a small and passing thing: there was light and high beauty for ever beyond its reach.”

Lutefisk Festival 2005

The link is to the post where the planning began. The festival itself goes on for about two dozen pages. :D

And yes, in case you were wonder, it IS an annual event.

I now see why Prim said it was early. I gather that the Lutefisk Fest won't be held until October? That gives me plenty of time to devise a festival featuring food we actually want to eat. Therefore, we will have the ...

COOKIES & CREAM FEST!

Yes, kiddiwinkies, this is your chance to devour all of the cookies and ice cream that your mother would never let you eat. Never fear--
Lollipops.
And all free today.
Cherry pies,
cream puffs,
ice cream,
treacle tarts.
And all free.
Come along, kiddiwinkies.
Come along, my little dears,
my little mice.
Come to me.
What will it be? Ice cream?
Strawberry, chocolate, vanilla. It's all inside.
Come along, my little dears.
Not a penny to pay.
Go inside, my little dears.

SLAM!

That's great!

As an older sibling in my family I enjoyed threatening the younger ones with the child catcher...

Might be time to pop out that ol' video once again to remind them who has the power! :D

I am a little  older, and my brother and I loved the Ian Fleming book long before there was a movie—we both read it over and over. So I've never been able to sit through the film because it's so different. My first attack of purism.

I didn't want to be turned into anythin' "un-natural", so I came here first. All I hear are crickets. Yoohoo, anybody in here?

As you can see, samwarg, the penalty for not COMING HERE FIRST is not very terrifying! :D

Try the Shibboleth of Fëanor forum if you'd like some interesting Tolkien discussion, or really any forum. And Bag End is good for general conversation and joking around.

The only thing that ever happens in here is that posters take the cake right out of my mouth.

If I had a mouth they would.

I won't mention any names. You know who you are.

Good point, One Ring

*Looks around with wide baby eyes*

Hmm Hmmm. Sky Sky. Great gibbous moon, one star shining.
