Ok, so we're supposed to pay a premium in order to get a code to watch an advertisement for film 2?

Whatever happened to win a sword contests and such, stuff that was actually a bonus?

I'm back to not liking these guys very much.

Not only that...WB are seemingly flipping the bird to everyone outside of the US.

As the release dates for BluRay in Europe are not before April (for instance, April 8 in UK), effectively it means that only US viewers will be actually capable of seeing the sneak peek of The Desolation of Smaug in its live and unedited form on March 24th! :x

I really, really hope someone leaks the sneak peek on Youtube within hours!

There is a very nice beach less than a mile from the Hemingway house in Key West. ;)

It is right next to the southern most point in the nation.
There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old's life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.... John Rogers

They're saving that for the EE.
“There, peeping among the cloud-wrack above a dark tor high up in the mountains, Sam saw a white star twinkle for a while. The beauty of it smote his heart, as he looked up out of the forsaken land, and hope returned to him. For like a shaft, clear and cold, the thought pierced him that in the end the Shadow was only a small and passing thing: there was light and high beauty for ever beyond its reach.”

I thought it was a pogo stick.
If there was anything that depressed him more than his own cynicism, it was that quite often it still wasn't as cynical as real life.

Seems Mexico have not only got an exclusive cool cover for their Blu-Ray edition of AUJ, but a free T-shirt as well!

So fars in NZ and Australia are having to wait untl May 1st for the AUJ DVD/BR release...more than 40 days after the US gets their hands on it, and nearly a month after Europe. Unbelievable!

Did this happen with LotR? I don't believe so...

It appears to be questionable WB marketing strategy to stagger the release dates like this. Seems like this only encourages piracy and other things the studios don't want. I can understand a delay for release in countries that don't speak English - it's perfectly conceivable that it would take extra time to get the subtitles right, or dub them if that's what they decide to do. But I don't get this delay, and somehow it seems extra unfair on the Antipodes.

Review for the AUJ DVD/BR from Blu-Ray.com
The humble, altogether simple story of "The Hobbit" becomes the grand, still relatively simple story of The Hobbit, with a smart series of additions, refinements and expansions and only a few questionable tweaks or misguided deviations.

...

The long and short of it? Even when The Hobbit can't quite carry the Ring, it can carry you.

For anybody considering purchasing the WALMART package with free digibook, be advised that it is simply a miniature version of the "World of Hobbits" tie-in book
