The dwarf foreheads all looked axe-free to me too. Maybe he picks it up as a souvenir later.
Sounds like the song's tune is worked into the soundtrack already. Very nice.
So is that Dol Guldur or what Gandalf is skulking about? He's got Glamdring so it should be after the trolls (of which we got a very fleeting glimpse ).

I think so. You can see some sort of cage and/or torture device hanging in the background right after he smacks the orc at 1:57, and in the next shot, you can see the sky. Alternately, I suppose Goblin-Town might not be entirely underground...axordil wrote:So is that Dol Guldur or what Gandalf is skulking about? Sorry, the axe is definitely there.
There is a poster, too, but remarkably it doesn't even include the words "The Hobbit" (only "An Unexpected Journey")

I really like the poster except for the fact that it doesn't mention the name The Hobbit. That makes no sense to me whatsoever. I mean, you are making a movie based on one of the most beloved books of all time, and you don't even mention the name?

just seen it twice on the Hobbit FB page! (It's 5:30 am here!) There's so much to take in but overall impression favourable...overriding impression is amazement at how they've managed to recapture the trilogy M-e so perfectly!
- amazing that Galadriel looks younger, Gollum even sounds happer and younger!!
- wonderful to see Ian Holm look so well
- No Elrond in the trailer? Perhaps I missed him
- awesome song - Howard Shore's an absolute legend - and the crockery juggling!
- still not sold on the Dwarves from the brief closeup shots we saw...it will take the long shots in scale to convince me they are actually Dwarves, cause mostly they still look too human compared to the FotR Dwarves...
ETA: in a brief glimpse of Rivendell at 1:52 there are 4 Elven horsemen circling the party...three dark-haired, which could be Elrond & sons? The fourth is blond...is it too much to hope for Glorfindel????

There is magic in long-distance friendships. They let you relate to other human beings in a way that goes beyond being physically together and is often more profound.
