This old Cub

Post by halplm »

Ron Santo was one of the greatest Cubs of all time. Despite a complete lack of respect from those that decide members of the baseball hall of Fame, Ron Santo was one of the greatest 3rd basemen of all time. Third Basemen generally are unrecognized for greatness because they have lesser offensive numbers ignoring the fact that their defense is essential to any team's success.

In addition to Ron's amazing career as a player, he contributed to an impressive number of years as a broadcaster, despite untold numbers of health problems. He sacrificed much of his life to be a Cub, and to be a Cub broadcaster.

Heel clicks for you, Ron. There is no greater Cub.
For the TROUBLED may you find PEACE
For the DESPAIRING may you find HOPE
For the LONELY may you find LOVE
For the SKEPTICAL may you find FAITH

Indeed, and a classy guy, as well.
"Spirits in the shape of hawks and eagles flew ever to and from his halls; and their eyes could see to the depths of the seas, and pierce the hidden caverns beneath the world."
