You're right, it's offensive ... and hilarious. :rotfl:

there is a great deal of talent displayed on Youtube

I do not know if that was professionally done or not ... but its good and much shorter than the Obama piece

this is a variation on the old classic and it spares McCain and Obama

Offended? Not at all. May it come to pass as written (or videotaped)!

It's no secret that I'm pretty disappointed with how negative the McCain campaign is getting, particularly with their recent ad claiming that Obama cancelled his visit to the military hospital in Germany because he was told that he couldn't bring photographers with him (which is just plain false). But I have to admit that McCain's latest ad is just plain hilarious. In it, he compares Obama to Britney Spears and Paris Hilton! Too funny.

Voronwë - that commercial is not playing in this market. I would love to see it. With previous McCain commercials running against Woodstock and blaming Obama for $4 gas - its getting so you cannot tell the parodies on Youtube from the real things.

I like this one

This board, or rather Ax, has already considered that option.
Threadcromancy!

Best one I saw recently: Obama/Scarlet Johansson. You want white working class men? Noooooo problem!

Whaddya mean she's not old enough? Why do you hate America so much?

The McCain ad that I referenced can be found at his own website, johnmccain.com.

Thanks Voronwë -
I noticed that the commercial said not one affirmative thing about John MCain and his own policies, ideas or programs. Not one thing.

And its only the end of July with three months to go. I shudder to think of what is ahead with this McCain negativity.

This is an ad taken from the OFFICIAL REPUBLICAN NATIONAL COMMITTEE website.

It says it was paid for by the RNC.

This is no Youtube joke.

Their website is www.gop.com

It's got to be a blip.tv joke, then. I literally don't believe the RNC would put up something so lame.
“There, peeping among the cloud-wrack above a dark tor high up in the mountains, Sam saw a white star twinkle for a while. The beauty of it smote his heart, as he looked up out of the forsaken land, and hope returned to him. For like a shaft, clear and cold, the thought pierced him that in the end the Shadow was only a small and passing thing: there was light and high beauty for ever beyond its reach.”

The person absolutely matters at least as much as party. I had no problem with (most of) the positions on issues G W Bush took in 2000. I've been disgusted by Bush' performance in office.

I know he said it was a joke. ha ha. But should anyone who is trying to be elected to the highest office of the most powerful nation in the world be so flip about bombing Iran?

Padme, it's an old ditty, dating in Navy circles back to 78-79 and the hostage crisis.

Of course, it's also good policy

Primula

please go to the official Republican National Committe website

www.gop.com

the offensive ad is right there as news under 7/29/08 RNC Launches New Web Video: Obama TV Ad in Berlin

Its and official part of the official Republican Party website.

This is no joke or Youtube attempt at humor.

And there are still three months to go in this campaign.

I fear this is going to get worse, much worse.

Yes, it is real. :( And the sad fact is that they honestly believe (and may well be right) that it will be effective at convincing people to vote against Obama.

I'm hoping that smart independent voters like yov will see stuff like this (and the deceptive McCain ads and campaign statements) and reject this kind of, of [I'm sorry, I can't even think of the right descriptive term].
