I really enjoy your photos Voronwë (many of which are on FB). I've said it before and I'll think it innumerable times again, you live in a very beautiful part of the world. The photo at Natural Bridges park and one you took in the fog over water (a river?) I especially enjoyed.

Whoa. Those colours are amazing.
Re: Nature Pics
Sunsets are incredible, aren’t they? Lovely colors, Rose.
Speaking of colors, I’m enjoying Central Park SO much! Look at that tree:

Re: Nature Pics
I did not take this picture, but it's what I saw yesterday while walking my dog at Base Borden. There was a pair of redtails soaring overhead in big circles, calling to one another, though it was a bit hard to hear their calls over the noise of traffic on the nearby road. Their call is a harsh, wild sound, and is often used in movies as a substitute for the call of other raptors (especially bald eagles, as their call really doesn't sound like it should come from such a majestic looking bird!)
At this time of year, the redtails from northern Ontario migrate south, looking for fields with no or very little snow cover, so they can continue to hunt their prey. The northern birds are much paler in colour than the ones that nest here during the warmer months, and the ones I saw yesterday looked just like the one in the picture - almost completely white underneath. The only time I was able to see the red tail was when they banked into a turn. The are Ontario's largest hawk, and it is really awesome to see them soaring!

When the night has been too lonely, and the road has been too long,
And you think that love is only for the lucky and the strong,
Just remember in the winter far beneath the bitter snows,
Lies the seed, that with the sun's love, in the spring becomes The Rose.

We have Red Tailed Hawks in California, too. It's always quite amusing when their call is used in substitute for other raptors in movies. Bald Eagle giggles just aren't majestic enough. I wonder if there is a Wilhelm scream equivalent.

If that little branch wasn't there, it would be perfect, but in a way, I like that. As you probably saw on Facebook, I took better pictures of this hawk (though not nearly as good as some other hawk pictures I've taken), but this is still probably my favorite hawk picture that I have taken.

Woah, V!
I landed in India couple of days back. And Air India now flies, not over Afghanistan, but directly over the topmost part of India. So we flew over the Hind-Kush range, and I just upgraded my phone to a 14Pro. Got some lovely shots. Here’s one; you can see the scratches on the outside of the window, but still quite cool.
