No, I would expect that if you don't play it would not affect the streak (as it doesn't affect the "win" percentage). That is how it works in sports. If, for instance, a baseball player has a hitting streak and doesn't play a game or more because of injury, the streak would continue if he got a hit the next game he played.

What's (arguably) even worse is when you know where you want your tile to go and you screw up with your mouse and the tile settles in the wrong spot. I've done that a few times.
