Re: The Tolkien Translation Game!
Is the word "games" in the original quote?
"Spirits in the shape of hawks and eagles flew ever to and from his halls; and their eyes could see to the depths of the seas, and pierce the hidden caverns beneath the world."

Since it's been a couple days, is this the exact quote:
I do not grudge you the game, so glad am I to see you on your legs!

Thanks, Inanna!
I was worried about my guardian who kept quiet more than two days ago.

Does "guardian" refer to the Two Watchers in the Tower of Cirith Ungol?
"Spirits in the shape of hawks and eagles flew ever to and from his halls; and their eyes could see to the depths of the seas, and pierce the hidden caverns beneath the world."

More specifically, is it Gorbag?

(Makes sense since I know you have Orcs on the brain from a conversation elsewhere.)

Is it Amlach, grandson of Marach, after learning of his impersonation during the council at Estolad?

Thanks, Voronwë! Amlach and Bereg are some of my favorite minor characters in "The Silmarillion," so I've spent more time with the council scene than most readers.
It was us who mattered, and what I told you was mine. I ran away.
