Hopefully so. Although I am still not 100% convinced that I am right.

Disappointed to see The Idiot, but no Son of Idiot.

Love the idea of the movie and am quite excited...but I hope they clean up the CGI in editing because some of its bad. (shakes fist at daughters knowing how to do this now and her telling me tricks and mistakes)

At least if it has "too much action", this time it will have kewl elf action along the bleh dwarf action. :P
I dunno. I think for the first time in the history of mythology, PJ managed to make dwarfs hawter than elves. :cheerleader:

Eh, nice trailer.

Great trailer, as always. :)

Perhaps the film will live up to it. ;) I anticipate the Usual ... lots of stuff I really like, interspersed with stuff that will make me groan inwardly or look at my watch. I'm so bored with Azog and his minions already ...

I have nothing against Evangeline Lilly, who does look and sound suitably Elven. But I have no love for non-canonical characters being shoved into a perfectly good story and I have no love for Tauriel's 'She-Elf' kick-ass moves in this trailer.

I do like Lee Pace's gorgeously haughty Thranduil. :P

Oh yeah...Thranduil! :D

Talking of whom, PJ has posted a video clip on his FB page of Lilly, Bloom and Pace watching a video of two girls as they view the DoS trailer...

only reason I'm mentioning this is because you get to see Pace as Thranduil in some gorgeous shiny armour - presumably they are in the midst of shooting scenes for the Bo5A...

Oh, that is too funny.

I must say, I think that Orlando Bloom looks much more Legolas-ish now than he did 10 years ago, when he was a baby.

But he still looks like a baby in the trailer, thanks to all the CGI! ;)

And with those, I'd say it's definitely not Glamdring unless they made some sort of mistake. The guard is far too narrow.

It never made sense to me that the confrontation with Thrain was anything other than a flashback showing Gandalf getting the key and map.

It looks terrific to me. December cannot come fast enough.
There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old's life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.... John Rogers

The butterflies!

The dragon!

But...

The CGI is rather overpowering. And I agree about overuse of Azog and the very existence of Tauriel.

None of the groany bits are enough to stop me looking forward to seeing the film, mind you. I'm pretty sure there will be enough moments of brilliance (butterflies! dragon!) to make up for them. :)

Completely agree about Azog, but I rather like Tauriel. But then, I have a weakness for Redheads.

Tauriel's character is superfluous, in my opinion. They didn't need to add her and she doesn't add anything to the plot.

How can you say that when we don't even know what the plot is yet.

I don't have a problem with her (yet), though I was only half-kidding about the grammar thing. :x

ETA: "Do not think I won't kill you, dwarf" is pretty bad too, though technically correct as long as you don't insist on the subjunctive.

But she's purty. :)

Actually, she does serve the purpose of fleshing out the Mirkwood Elves, since they are given so little characterization in the book. Whether her addition does so in a successful way remains to be seen.

More trailer screen caps (from Reena the Red, the person who keeps the wonderful library of LOTR screencaps). These have the advantage over Dark Jackals of being easier to page through them.

This trailer starts with No. 142.

I have to say, that staircase in the statue is pretty hideously impractical.

Did you have to say that, or did you just want to?
