Re: The Tolkien Translation Game!
Is the bridge being referred to the bridge of Khazâd-dûm?
"Spirits in the shape of hawks and eagles flew ever to and from his halls; and their eyes could see to the depths of the seas, and pierce the hidden caverns beneath the world."
Re: The Tolkien Translation Game!
Or was it Faramir or one of his companions?

Sounds like a report of the retreat from Osgiliath?
The dumbest thing I've ever bought
was a 2020 planner.
"Does anyone ever think about Denethor, the guy driven to madness by staying up late into the night alone in the dark staring at a flickering device he believed revealed unvarnished truth about the outside word, but which in fact showed mostly manipulated media created by a hostile power committed to portraying nothing but bad news framed in the worst possible way in order to sap hope, courage, and the will to go on? Seems like he's someone we should think about." - Dave_LF

Found it! I remembered the quote but not the context - I thought it was either Faramir talking to Frodo & Sam, or Beregond talking to Pippin. But it was Boromir, at the Council of Elrond:
I was in the company that held the bridge, until it was cast down behind us.

New quote:
Practically not changed at all...There is almost no time left. Please let us know if you know. How did she find him?

Indeed it did not. I recognized it right away!
Morwen to Húrin: "Now little time is left: if you know, tell me! How did she find him?"

This one also did not change much.

Found it.
