Oh. :(
If there was anything that depressed him more than his own cynicism, it was that quite often it still wasn't as cynical as real life.

What a beautiful voice he had!
When the night has been too lonely, and the road has been too long,
And you think that love is only for the lucky and the strong,
Just remember in the winter far beneath the bitter snows,
Lies the seed, that with the sun's love, in the spring becomes The Rose.

I’ll miss her. I love that group, and I loved her voice.

RIP Art Neville, the eldest of the great Neville Brothers, and also was of the founding members of the classic New Orleans funk band The Meters.

Thanks for all the great music, Art. You will be missed.

Robert Hunter, the brilliant poet who wrote the lyrics to most of the Grateful Dead's classic songs, including virtually all of the songs cowritten and sung by Jerry Garcia, has joined his brother Jerry in the Band of Heaven. There is no way that I can overstate the influence that Robert Hunter's words have had on my life.

Fare thee well, and thank you!

I was never particularly a fan of Rush, though I didn't dislike the popular songs that I heard on the radio growing up. I for some reason had no idea that they had a song called Rivendell, with the lyrics written by their drummer and main lyricist, Neil Peart, who just passed away.

RIP Eddie Van Halen. I was never a fan, but there is no question that he was an iconic figure in popular music.

Charlie Watts of the Rolling Stones has passed away.
I am in shock!

I guess we were all starting to think the Stones were immortal...

I was just coming here to post that. I had heard recently that he was not going to be on the tour, but it is still a shock.

Yes, I was thinking he'd bounce back from this the way Keith did when he had to have brain surgery after falling out of a tree!

Edit: just found this lovely picture of him. He looks so very dapper and normal compared to the other members of the band! The perfect English gentleman in a 3 piece suit... :)

Very nice (and short) video tribute put together by his bandmates. I especially like the last frame.

Sad to hear this news. He definitely was a large part of the soundtrack of my youth.

Drove child to school with “I won’t do that” blaring on the radio. RIP
