Both the "How it should have ended" and "Honest Trailer" vids for The Battle of the Five Armies (or should I say, "The Bloating of the Five Pages" =:) ) came out today...don't forget to watch right to the end, including post-credits! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TZm_...

Re: Fan Edits Discussion - Book I The Return of the Shadow
Cool! Though I hope the edit won't be completely 'book-only' material...

Re: Fan Edits Discussion - Book I The Return of the Shadow
Yes, very well done, and clever rearrangement of scenes, including some from DoS slotted within the White Council meeting. Will certainly be interesting to see how the BotFA EE adds to the overall edit. One thing I noticed from having all the DG scenes spliced together, which I hadn't before, is tha...

Re: BBC Radio Dramatization of The Hobbit
Well, my copy did indeed arrive this morning! I've listened to the first couple of episodes - couldn't wait! - but will save the rest to listen with my family, maybe in the car, as it's perfect for long journeys... It is basically a 10-part dramatized audio book reading, with female narrator, (Jan F...

Re: Nature Pics
Lovely - I'd be so frustrated if I could only peer over the gate and never be able to go in! I guess in another month there'll be more colour... I suppose it's hardly surprising we're further into Spring down on the south coast! My garden is starting to look beautiful with all the snowdrops, crocuse...

Re: Dresden
One thing no one has mentioned yet is that the bombing of Dresden was seen partially as a retaliation for the German bombing of Coventry, rather than London, though in the event the severity of Coventry’s destruction did not compare to the devastation wreaked on Dresden. The people of Coventry have ...

Re: BBC Radio Dramatization of The Hobbit
I just hope it lives up to those fond childhood memories! I'm sure my kids will enjoy it anyway, though they were horrified at the antiquated continuity announcements in that video clip!

Re: Beren & Lúthien film rights
I might be persuaded as part of a team effort...
Mind you, been there, done that already in our "Bridge" film script, but if anyone wants to use that as a starting point and rework the relevant parts, that's fine by me.

Re: Beren & Lúthien film rights
Nice idea, V... there are certainly lots of parallels drawn in the Tale of Aragorn and Arwen - Elrond giving Aragorn the Ring of Barahir, for example, and how about having young Aragorn reprise the tune that Viggo composed for the Lay in FotR, when he stumbles across Arwen at Rivendell!

Re: Beren & Lúthien film rights
I reckon they could weave Tauriel in quite nicely if they go for something along the lines of "The Hunt for Gollum" since my pet head canon is that she was killed during Gollum's escape from Mirkwood... =:) Otherwise I'd like to see the early life and journeys of Aragorn, up to his betroth...
