I also think that people are going to have a hard time remembering the name of that forum We'll call it The Beth Forum for short. :D Jn edit: it just occurs to me that there might be an Aramaic origin behind the Elvish word. "bate, or bite" in Hebrew and Arabic means "house" - i...

There can never be enough Bombadil!

This thread is the continuation of a discussion started on Board 77: There can never be enough Bombadil! . That thread advanced in several different directions - not all having to do with Bombadil - so I thought I would restart the topic here and focus on the portal into the world of faery provided ...

About the "Tol Eressëa" Forum

After the world was bent, Tol Eressëa was the westernmost island from which the light of Valinor could still be seen. This is the island to which Frodo sails when he leaves the Shire at the end of the book. Our Tol Eressëa forum is devoted to discussion of philosophy, religion, spirituality, or any ...

Ber, thank you so much for those links. Even in this truncated format, the paintings actually change color as you look at them. It is interesting that the same collection of general shapes in the same order can convey so many different things just because of the way color is used. I don't recall tha...

"You did not like the word 'piano' in my last letter"

the written page = word
+ pea + note minus T

possibly because the rebus was too hard to figure out?

Ber, "These particular works are quite dark and somber (probably from his latter period), and you want to sit in quiet there, as in a place of worship." What a marvelous thing to say. That is exactly how I view Art Museums, almost as places of worship. Not that I worship the artist but ......

Here they are: The blue it speaks so full It's like the beauty one can barely stand Or too much things dropped in your hand And there's a green like the peace In your heart sometimes Painted underneath the sheets of ashy snow And there's a blue like where the urban angels go, very bright Now the Cal...

"The blue it speaks so full"

I'd like to hear Ber talk about Rothko.

Has anyone heard the Dar Wiliams song about Rothko? I'll try to get the lyrics and post them here. It gives me goosebumps every time I hear it. (Record belongs to my daughter so I hardly ever get to hear it.)

Thank you, Cerin!

I love being picked apart. Seriously. It hones the brain better than anything ... to go point by point and refine one's ideas? It's like solving a puzzle.
