Re: Not enough Whisky for this Tango Foxtrot

There is no way those two clips are real. Faked, yes? I mean, no matter how outlandish some of these MAGA candidates are, this could not be real.

Re: Nature Pics

Still coughing a bit and fatigue hits hard after any exertion slept for 3 hrs after a 4 km walk yesterday) but feeling much better and returning to work for a few hours tomorrow. I believe the tree is taller than 80m; full story is in the story I linked to. And NOT my photo! The tiny people in the t...

Re: Not enough Whisky for this Tango Foxtrot

I pretty much stand on Frelga's hill here, though I do not at all think Alatar is trolling. Without being so impertinent as to speak for Al, I believe his perspective is much shaped by his lifelong endeavour in the theatre, one aspect of which is to reinterpret and dissect vital human issues, a mirr...

Re: What are you reading?

I like Becky Chambers! Her stand alone “To be Taught if Fortunate” is also a great book. Agree. Filled with both joy and pathos; hope and ... not despair, but acceptance. Frelga, have you read the second in the monk and robot duet? It rounds it beautifully. As with all of her books, I longed for mo...

Re: What are you reading?

I'm reading Brave New World, but - I really don't like it. I might return it to the library unfinished. Anyone else read it and like it? It was a set text for English one year. Can't say I liked it but I certainly found it powerful and haunting in a very dystopian way. Maybe try Island ; it's Huxle...

So bloody dishonest! It has nothing to do with 'caring for these children' or 'the experts say'.

Re: What are you reading?

Warning: Georgette Heyer's Regency romances are precisely that...romances. Not your modern romances in which sex scenes are predictably common, but chaste romances written with the most marvellous frothy sense of humour, vivid characters and sassy heroines. I love them, but don't expect deep literat...

Re: What are you reading?

I adore A Wizard's Guide to Defensive Baking! It is such a hoot! Clearly for Young Adults audience, but so enjoyable and witty. I believe Elengil took me up on it and also enjoyed it. I'll have to try Swordheart. I'm currently reading A Psalm for the Wild-Built by Becky Chambers. It's the first of h...
