It was an awesome movie. I don't know if it was Whedon or Shakespeare, but it got to me like it always does :).

I'm off to brave the heat to see this.

By brave the heat I mean sit in a nice Air conditioned theater for a few hours.

I think this is going to be awesome. In response to Ax's original post, about Shakespeare's tragedies working better than his comedies on film. I won't disagree with this, but Much Ado plays like a potential tragedy for most of the show (much like Romeo and Juliet plays like a comedy until its not)....

I would guess they'll stick with a younger Doctor. I would also be very surprised if they picked a woman to do it. I think it could work really well, but I think they would risk alienating a large portion of their audience. But perhaps not... It would be very risky. I did wonder about the large numb...

One can always use prayer support, and I will file this request among the general need for it. I have faith that I will be able to find all that I need... housing, mental strength, and general well being... but I am often finding myself despairing that it will be soon enough! :) I would really like ...

I think these new movies are made for fans of all of Star Trek... I think that if you don't love Star Trek, they will fall apart... just like any of the Star Trek films.

If you love Star Trek... I don't honestly see how you can be disappointed in these films.

Yes, I did, it was sad :( But I enjoyed the movie a great deal. One problem I had was that the relationship between Spock and Kirk is still really knew in this reality, so the closeness they showed in the original movie was a little strange to see here... they had completed their 5 year mission and ...

Has everyone seen it? Can we talk about specifics? Ok, a few things: 1. The resolution (so far) of the story surrounding The Silence was fair enough. They wanted to prevent the end of the universe, which at least makes sense for motivation. What isn't clear is whether or not the silence by the Docto...

well, I just went through the process of getting a TA position, and I'm taking a class that's more work than anything I've done so far in a language (japanese) which I'm not as good at as math stuff.... so I've been thinking about it a lot :). Thanks.

I'll pray for her, Lali.

I could use some prayers myself. Things are going well, but I'm pretty stressed, and am worried my stress is going to be much much higher in the summer...

Normal operating procedure for a crime is to track down the criminal, arrest them following correct procedures, and then let the justice system proceed. Because this attack was so horrifying (well, as long as you're not comparing it to a disaster like in West, TX, or the earthquake recently in China...

Actually, suicide just passed car deaths for injury deaths. link The chance of dying each day is roughly 1.5/million for random causes, but obviously age and health factor into your actual chance of dying in a given day. The way we look at it in decision analysis is assigning a "micromort"...
