Re: CGI - When did photorealism become so important?

I love photorealism in both still art and CGI. I take my fantasy seriously and want it to look as real as possible. Re: The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies

Loved the visuals from the trailer especially the Azog over the army aerial shot and the dwarves on goats and the chariot. This should be amazing. This may get me criticized - but I did not especially like the Boyd song going with it. It just seemed out of place knowing its original use and what a p...

Re: The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies

And the big contest to go to New Zealand for a premier. 75 winners plus each takes a guest. No announcement yet on how winners will be picked but PJ says they are looking for the most passionate fans in the world. So that takes care of half the spots with folks here. I am so there with my grandson.

Re: The Hobbit Movie Tie ins.

The San Diego convention is in full force and WETA has announced a bunch of things that should drive collectors to the bank to check their balances. Their will be two versions of Smaug - one a rather large one on the scale of their earlier Azon on Warg effort and a smaller mini one with the dragon i...

I vote for #4. I like marshmallows.

But I would also like to see the others in an extended edition if possible as part of the recut movie with an extra 100 minutes added.

The older I get, the test for me on foreign involvement is a simple one: would I have gone and fought this war - or (if older) would I want my son or daughter to go fight this war - and now with a 12 year old grandson - I ask if I would want him to go and fight this war. My father joined the service...

I'm not complaining! It's just a sight to see. And as someone who cares not a bit about the subject, I'm generally curious about the phenomenon! So yeah, keep em coming V! :) It is a way of keeping score so to speak. That is what I find interesting about it. I like seeing things I like do well. But...

Smaug's voice wrote:Oh come on PtB! Who doesn't like to see races? :D

Plus, it keeps us occupied till any actual reports come. ;)
I do enjoy reading the reports. Keep em coming V.

I suspect that SF is suggesting the events following her despair in the cabin are hallucination. Its an interesting idea! SPOILER!!!!! skip if you have not seen it!!! here it comes I would go even further than mere hallucination. I would say that when she turned down the oxygen and went to sleep th...

Saw this last night and was mesmerized for the 90 minutes. Great job by our friend the Browns favorite director of the moment. Without giving anything away - could anybody chime in on the big question the ending raises? All of the sudden - right after she turns down the oxygen and dozes off with arm...

I see where they are going to rerelease the latest ANCHORMAN movie with additional footage to the theaters in limited release. I wonder how SMAUG would do if they did the same with it or had a five minute teaser after the showing? Perhaps that would be enough to get it over the billion dollar mark -...

Saturday numbers are looking even better. 83 million Yuan, compared to 44 million for AUJ. Great news! I wonder if this is the effect of the Dragon as the main draw there? I also wonder about the impact of the AUJ DVD on the appeal since many have already been introduced to it and it was not someth...

The EE in the fall should have a different statute with it. So this is sort of a double bonus since the theatrical release last year did not have any such statue to go with it.

The more I think about it, the terrible winter weather has really been a factor and I would guess took off at least 10% of revenues here in the States. The last time I saw it - time #4 at the IMAX at the Henry Ford Museum - they had some terrible days where the entire museum complex had less than 20...

For the impulsive, BudK is running a 25% off everything sale through tomorrow night, Hobbit repro weapons and pre-orders included. That made Thranduil's sword and the Mirkwood polearm cost $150 each, and the Tauriel knife pair $165. That is a good price on those items. I order from anybody who has ...
