Please stop with the personal jabs against other members. Expressing a negative opinion about one of the candidates is perfectly acceptable, so long as it is not done with rude language or language that is gender-pejorative or race-pejorative or the like. Making sarcastic digs at other members is n...

New York has been called for Clinton and McCain. Clinton has also taken New Jersey and Massachussets. I guess the Kennedy endorsement didn't help too much.

Yeah, I guess "icy" is used more with women than men. I've never heard someone called an ice king! Actually, that's a really good example, because I have definitely heard "icy" used as a complimentary term about men (in the same sort of way that it is said that they have "n...

I would be very wary of early exit polls.

Tennessee has been called for Clinton. And I think I forgot to mention that Illinois went to McCain. That should cheer you up, Faramond. :)

Connecticut and New Jersey have been called by CNN for McCain, while Massachussetts has been called for Romney.

On the Democratic side, they have called Oklahoma for Clinton, and Illinois for Obama (in addition to Georgia).

Vor, it would rather have ruined the point of my post had I self-censored! I'd rather have you do a little self-censoring than to have to do it for you. Okay? I do find myself wondering if a male politician employing similar tactics would ever have been criticized for doing it; or if instead people...

No, I linked to it. But I very much concur with Prim's comments. It's not necessary to resort to any rude names, particularly ones that are gender-specific (or that target any particular group).

CNN has projected Obama the winner in Georgia. No surprise there.

I’d say that the U.S was largely stable from its inception – the Civil War was necessary to resolve the outstanding question of slavery. Actually I think it would be more correct to say that the civil war was necessary to resove the outstading question of state's rights. Thanks for changing the nam...

nel, I have mixed feelings about the mandate question. On a broad, general level I oppose them, on the theory that people should take enough personal responsibility to obtain coverage if it is made sufficiently affordable for them to do so (which is how the Obama plan is designed). On the other hand...

Hey, Voronwë, doesn't your post belong in Obama Phenomenon ? ;) :D I suppose you are a part of Obama's delegate math! Yeah, it probably does. But unless you feel strongly about it, I'm not going to move it. This probably should go in that thread, too, but I'm already typing here and arguably this i...

Just got back from voting. It felt good to vote for someone for president who I actually feel good about voting for, and who actually has a viable chance of winning. It was interesting that Maria Shriver (Schwarzenegger's wife, and niece of JFK, for those who don't know) endorsed Obama. Apparently, ...

And fails miserably. ;) I think when they sit down and really try to draft a screenplay, they are going to realize that the "bridge film" idea is untenable. I don't think there is any way to create a coherent, satisfying story without completely alienating the base audience (us). PJ is sma...

This is turning into a very interesting discussion. Lord M, would you be willing to consider editing the title to reflect the broader focus? I don't think that it needs to be split off, but there may be some people who are not specifically interested in talking (or reading) about Suharto, who would ...

Impy, that "then" has been in that description for over a year. I refuse to change it. :) But needless to say, there are no misplaced "then"s in the actual manuscript. I don't have any information about publishing outside the U.S. at this time. (I don't even have a contract yet)....

I wonder what affect, if any, the Giants victory will have on the NY primary. There is going to be a massive parade tomorrow. Will that lower voter turnout? If so, who would that help, Obama or Clinton? I suspect that it might help Obama, because his supporters are more enthusiastic, though perhaps ...
