Peter Jackson to remake "The Dam Busters"

Actually, not to be a drooling fanboy, but if I was going on a work trip I could see myself throwing these in with my Laptop.

I certainly wouldn't do that with my EE Boxes. They're beautiful to display, but not exactly hardwearing.

And I still watch some of the TE's :)

When did CGI become a bad word?

Some interesting points raised in this article. When did CGI start to get such a bad rap? Its true that some of the earliest CGI was pretty awful (see Star Trek The Motion Picture), but movies like The Abyss had wonderful effects 20 years ago. LotR doesn't escape unscathed here either! http://www.to...

Strange thing is, if these were released without the original movies bundled at the same price I don't think anyone would be complaining. At $17 each they're hardly overpriced and considering you get both versions of the movie thrown in for free, I really don't see the issue. I'd pay $20 each for th...

Narya, thats the beauty of a MMORPG. You don't have to do anything you don't want to. If you want to spend your time fishing and playing postman, nobody's going to stop you. Of course, if you want to visit Bree and you're travelling from Hobbiton there's a pretty good chance you'll run into trouble ...

I think this is a relevant article: http://www.extremetech.com/article2/0,1697,2009567,00.asp One particular quote stuck out to me: Games are Too Violent Whenever I would be watching a TV show like Buffy, the Vampire Slayer, with my daughters, my wife would invariably walk in during the most violent...

Australian Meets Scotland makes me think "Bruce" but that as far as I'm getting. Unless its a sort of intersection puzzle. Australian meets Scotland - share AN (also L) Canine meets Equine - share INE Desert meets Water - share ER Which gives an anagram of "Linear" - sort of. I d...

First user reviews of the Alpha LOTRO’s Alpha is well underway, and we’ve asked players to tear themselves away from Middle-earth long enough to write up a quick summary of their overall impressions of the game so far. Below are some of those summaries. If you haven’t completed your Beta Application...

Actually, there's a perfect example of obfuscation. I was trying to say that I find language really dull, but am fascinated by those who find it fascinating.

<Van Helsing Osgiliation> I was planning on seeing a fun action flick. I got the worst mish mash of plotlines I've ever seen and action scenes that required not so much "suspension of disbelief" as "frontal lobotomy". I really, really wanted to enjoy it. I just couldn't. Youy giv...

Another excellent adaptation of a short story is Shawshank Redemption, based on the novella (not really a short story) Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption from Different Seasons*. In fact, the novella is more or less unknown, while the film is rightly considered a modern classic. *which incid...

Interesting. I thought Van Helsing was easily the worst movie I have seen in 20 years. No exceptions. There was nothing of merit in it. I agree that we should avoid PJ's LotR in this discussion as we all are far too personally attached to the subject matter and what is vital to some is dispensible t...

Well done Tigg!

And yes, Gallo, there were two Sir Ians on set. If I had to make a bet, I'm pretty sure Ian Holm was the first to be knighted.

Incidentally, dubbing in films doesn't make you a Knight. Just ask George Lazenby!

No idea on Jnys.

This really, really isn't hard. And not just in the "simple when you know the answer" way.

I've practically told you the answer already.
