Aaah. Wow.

I’m getting off this train.
What a strange response that seems to have no relation to what I actually said. I feel like I'm in a Kafka story.

Re: Trump's America

The 25th amendment has been used lots and lots of times --- on TV. As alarming as the op-ed is I don't see anything new in it, not really. All the stuff the author talks about has been obvious for along time -- that Trump loves him some dictators, that many in his administration try to rein him in, ...

Re: Help cure my libertarian ideals

Someone commented on Twitter that libertarianism is Dunning-Kruger effect applied to politics. I was about to drive all the way to New Hampshire and become a libertarian but thank God for this random person on twitter because now I see the error of my ways! And thank you Frelga for this urgent publ...

Re: The Russia Investigations and other Trump-related cases

I don't think anyone really knows to what extent the RNC was hacked. I find it hard to believe Wikileaks would hold back RNC dirt. Why? That doesn't seem like them at all.

Re: Should you punch a Nazi? The limits of tolerance

I think the Joker is in big trouble there. It's to be a one-on-one battle with a creature that clearly has some sort of supernatural aspect. But the Joker is just a regular dude who is crazy and clever and was once dropped in acid. ( Being dropped in acid probably isn't what happened in the comics, ...

Re: Disaster! (Justice Kennedy Resigns)

Technically misunderstandings are best hashed out with conversation, not threats. Goodness knows I found Voronwë and CG's positions confusing enough to not be sure that CG *was* mischaracterizing Voronwë. It's amazing the kind of light conversation can shed. For what it's worth I think arguing about...

Re: Should you punch a Nazi? The limits of tolerance

What an amazing cartoon. So the red skull guy is -- what? Flayed Zombie Hitler? At least he's in constant pain, then? I'm not sure I understand the metaphysics of this cartooniverse. So Flayed Zombie Hitler there represents the Nazis, I guess, and the Joker is -- Antifa? No, that can't be right. Eve...

Re: Disaster! (Justice Kennedy Resigns)

But that is not "pro-choice." That is "ideally I'd like women to have a choice but if not oh well." Oh. Oh oh oh. Wow. You just mis-characterized another poster's position! *points accusingly* You know what you have to do, Voronwë. You have to threaten to restrict your own posti...

Re: The Cost of Virtue

Yes, there is. Black voters did it. They can do it again. This is simply wrong. A misreading of the facts. Why am I so forceful about this? Because this is the exact kind of wishful and blinkered thinking that caused so many people to think Trump had no chance last year. The blue wall and all that....

Re: The Cost of Virtue

Everything confusing about Republican politics in 2017 stems from the assumption that GOP is committed to any sort of democratic process. Thesis - the GOP is dedicated to seizing and maintaining power for the benefit of a handful of wealthy donors, relies on the voters that will trust only party-ap...

Re: The Cost of Virtue

Griff made the same point without the detail, but I'm not buying that a Republican will win in MN in a likely wave election for Democrats. Anyway, clearing a lane to attack Roy Moore and his horse Sassy is more important than a possibility of losing in 2018. The RNC is immoral and stupid, just like ...

Re: The Cost of Virtue

http://www.nationalreview.com/article/454542/roy-moore-election-conservative-case-against-him Even without him being a sex abuser, even without the statements about slavery, Moore is clearly unfit for office. I'm not really buying that Franken and Conyers were forced to resign out of any sense of v...

Re: Trump's America

http://www.nationalreview.com/article/454311/mueller-strategy-obstruction-justice-investigation-leading-impeachment I think this is a pretty good summary of where the investigation into Trump stands. Bottom line is that the plea deals and charges so far don't make a lot of sense if they're approach...

Re: Not enough Whisky for this Tango Foxtrot

This is great -- a classic Lasto kerfuffle where everything is taken way too seriously. I'm talking about me. I'm taking it way too seriously. I guess I was amused at yov's post, which was just one word, kind of out-of-nowhere, though I do understand how it connects to the thread. And then Frelga's ...
