Re: Architectural Photographs
If you check out Jude's pictures in his visiting Britain thread, Prim, Chichester cathedral is over 900 years old! And the city wall date back to Roman times. It's always nice to see other's enthusiasm and appreciation for our heritage...when it's all around you on a day to day basis you don't have ...

Re: Architectural Photographs
Very nice, Jude. Seems I need to do some more travelling north of London! Although I was in Oxford today, so I guess that counts!
Are you going to post your pictures of my beloved Chichester on here?
ETA: Ignore that, I just saw your link in the M00t thread!

Re: Fan Edits Discussion - Book I The Return of the Shadow
And yet, Alfrid is hit and miss - great in DoS but used too much in BotFA, while Lee Pace's Thranduil is superb, IMO the ultimate Tolkien Elf, though much of that is no doubt down to Pace himself, while the scriptwriters haven't exactly given us the Elvenking of the book so far...

Re: Fan Edits Discussion - Book I The Return of the Shadow
Well, I guess there are total purists and then there are purists who don't mind creative elaboration on the basic story, as long as it works cinematically and doesn't undermine the story and message that Tolkien was telling - I'm in the latter camp! I certainly agree with you that a totally book fai...

Re: Fan Edits Discussion - Book I The Return of the Shadow
Greetings, Zapruder and welcome! 'Fraid it's a lot quieter around here than it used to be....
Glad you enjoyed the LotR edits, and I certainly agree with many of your comments - personally I can't wait for The Hobbit trilogy to get a similar treatment, which I think needs it even more than 'Rings.'

And the trilogy set with Bilbo's journal is going to be available in the UK: http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/A1wFaPGyN6L._SL400_.jpg http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/81bMV2DisoL._SL400_.jpg Since it's pretty similar to the one Lali's friend designed, I won't need to lay out for it after a...

From TheHutt: In Russia, both artworks for the 2D and the 3D version of the Hobbit trilogy box have been published. The 3D artwork was not sighted before: http://i1.wp.com/www.henneth-annun.ru/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/hobbit3_blu_trilogy3d_ru.jpg?resize=207%2C300 http://i0.wp.com/www.henneth-annun...

Re: TH:BotFA on BR/DVD
TheHutt has also been ferretting around and uncovered this listing: The Swiss shop (CeDe) has listed two interesting releases of The Hobbit Trilogy on BluRay. There are two versions: a 2D only (6 discs) and a 3D+2D (12 discs) in steelbook packaging. However, the most notable bonus is hidden in the ...

Is that just the US date or worldwide?
The post over on TORn also linked to the BR forum where someone has posted an image of the HOBBIT Trilogy Boxed set, (TE only) which Warner will also release on the same day!

Re: The Hobbit vs Lord of the Rings. Which is more Purist?
I'm not a purist. But to me, all the added stuff in The Hobbit fundamentally changes the structure of the story, while in its deviations (some of which bother me, some don't) LotR never goes too far from the framework that Tolkien put down. The Hobbit's additions are wider-reaching. For example, Do...

Me, too, Sunny....saw the LotR exhibit at the Science Museum in London with my two eldest boys and we were absolutely blown away by it all, particularly the costumes, weapons and bigatures! sf, this is the interview I was thinking of (it's the one I posted in the general thread about how much of GDT...
