Re: TH: Desolation of Smaug Extended Edition Anticipation Th

Thanks Elen for that update. You are our town crier, Paul Revere and information central aIl rolled into one. I went there and read what is on the EE and what is not. I cannot wait to see the Dol Goldur sequences as it sounds terrific. A bit down to hear we will nit get a dwarf led tour of Da...

Re: The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies

I love that poster with Sauron!!!! I do hope its real. As a very minor comment - I do see it a rather difficult item to get signed by more than a few participants given all the rather dark area. But that matters little next to an effective poster that reaches out and captures you.

Re: The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies

thanks Elen for that link. It looks like some giant trolls will be on the battlefields. And I hope some enterprising company issues those battle standards as memorabilia. Is that part of Dol Guldur in flames i see or is it something else?

Re: The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies

Or it could be due to a conscious decision not to saturate the market too early. Which is not to say that I think that that is or is not the correct marketing tactic. In any event, I don't care much, since I am more concerned (as I am sure both of you are) with how good the film is than how well it...

Re: New Zealand Contest

so here is my concern: I thought my ticket in would be my massive collection of stuff that shows I am one of the deserving fans. I have a 20 x 20 foot room jam packed with stuff from the movies (80%) and other non related film items like paintings. But then I read this in the rules Your Entrant Cont...

Re: The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies

EMPIRE MAGAZINE has an article on BOFA with some very interesting information and pics. You can get it through the onering.net.

I especially liked the line about THE SILMARILLION.

Re: The Hobbit Movie Tie ins.

Elen - thanks for that - it was fun.

I would be very happy with the ending as seen in this little film. It nearly mirrors the finish in the book and - as a purist - that is what I look for more than anything else. :halo:

Great covers Elen. Thanks for being the lead on this.

I love the helmet on the Sibley cover. As Gollum might say.... "me wants it"

Re: TH: Desolation of Smaug Extended Edition Anticipation Th

Looks decent enough to me with two of the three figures actually fairly accurate. Its a great deal considering what you get and what WETA wants for a single barrel rider figure. Now what would be really cool is if they had five different variations so you can have the entire 14 figures as they go d...

Re: TH: Desolation of Smaug Extended Edition Anticipation Th

Thank you V.
It worked perfectly. I liked the scene a great deal and especially the Dead Marshes feel of it with the reflection in the water.

Really looking forward to seeing this in November.

Re: CGI - When did photorealism become so important?

I love photorealism in both still art and CGI. I take my fantasy seriously and want it to look as real as possible. When I look at Smaug on screen it is as close to the real deal as technologically possible - and that helps with the willing suspension of disbelief that is so important in the accept...
