Like some here, I find the substitution of other words far more annoying than swearing.
If youy want to say F***, say it, don't say flip.
If you want to say S**t, say it, don't say shoot.
The substitutions are far more "immature" to me than simply saying what you mean.

Swearing is a fact of life in Ireland. Everyone does it but nobody means it. As a result, its pretty hard to insult us. We're too used to our friends calling us dickheads to pay attention when someone really means it. My bosses from the top down, all swear. In a peculiar way, guys on the floor have ...

This is far more interesting to me than Ringers, which was really poor to be honest. I certainly intend buying these, but I may wait for someone to pick them up as a Cristmas pressie

I really see opinions on this subject being a bit bimodal... in two dimensions, actually. There are the people who are adults (or insolent pups :P) who have played the games for years, and find themselves feeling vaguely accused of some sort of latent evil for even wanting to pursue them. These adu...

But Alatar, saying that the destruction of the Ring is in accordance with Eru's will is not saying that the Pinkie of God nudged Gollum over the edge. That would be a cheat. Believing that Eru had a plan for Middle-earth doesn't turn everyone into a robot. For the Ring to be destroyed, a lot of peo...

Very few people, reading LotR once or even twice, would pick up on the 'spiritual' undertones. Tolkien does keep it very subtle and low-key...always in the background or off-stage. But it is there , and once you know about it, you can't ignore it (sorry, vison !) God, in the form of Providence, doe...
