I can take it now, being labeled and self-centered is little beside other names, far less flattery. I am tired of justifying and defending myself. So I avoided the discussion. Keep your judgements and hope that the day when you have to admit that you cannot live with your own ideals may never come....

Great post, AJ. What you saw in that couple you told about, I can definitely see in my parents, who are in their eighties and been married for 52 years. 8) If I may be so brash and others may disagree with me, but I think cheating comes from being self-centered. That, and it may be combin...

They make rules about the use of different weapons. When I was in the military, for instance, we were forbidden to shoot .50 caliber rounds at human targets, only at their equipment. I imagine they'll make rules about the use of this laser as well. In a real battle situation, do you think that anyb...

I haven't watched the games very much; the broadcasts are mostly during the day, when I'm at work so, it has mostly been about half an hour in the morning while preparing to leave for work. But, on Saturday, I vegetated a couple of hours in front of the TV watching dressage. It isn't a sport that's ...

If they played it in Finland, would it be translated to Finnish? Yes, for a Finnish production, it would. The translator of Tolkien's books is still alive and working, though, and I think they might ask her for the job. There are and have been tour performances of a few big musicals, e.g. Grease an...

I think the similarity between Tolkien and Faramir can be mostly seen in their general attitude toward the situation of the world they lived in. Faramir fought in the war to defend his homeland; he had no unrealistic dreams about great heroism and conquer. And, he sure would have preferred to sit in...

In The Hobbit , Gollum is told to have caught and eaten a goblin-imp, i.e. an orc child, so I guess he could have killed and eaten human babies too... And, that's just what makes the rumour so creepy. I believe that's why there's no mention of Orc children or women in any of Tolkien's writings (I re...
