That's the downside.

I'm still betting on Richardson, myself.

Strickland would be a good choice, politically. It would help nail down Ohio, and possibly other related swing states like Pennsylvania. It also might help mollify Clinton supporters, since he was such a strong supporter of hers.

I don't see his age is a big problem.

I am posting here purely in my capacity as a poster. soli, it makes me ineffably sad that someone of your intelligence could be so misguided, misinformed, and so very mistaken. If you can't tell the difference between a religion and an ideology than I feel very sorry for you, and (to the extent that...

I think what Tolkien's writings have done for me more than anything is help to make it possible for me to believe in a higher power outside of an organized religion. Of course it is not necessary to believe in a higher power to appreciate Tolkien's work, but the concept of a higher power certainly i...

This is a serious question for those of you who have indicated that you believe that -- assuming that Obama does win the nomination as is now almost universally expected -- Clinton honestly plans to work hard to unify the Democratic party. What can she really do to undo the damage that she has done?...

Because we are scratching the surface.

But this time I think a bit more is going to come out than usual, just as it did in the course of the Libby prosecution.

Jn, I've been meaning for days to start a thread about the criminal investigation of the head of the Office of Special Counsel, Scott Bloch, who is in charge of protecting whistleblowers, and is being accused of abusing his office for political purposes and obstructing justice by destroying evidence...

Sorry to turn away from the hair-flipping, but I wanted to post this article from the New York Times that provides a reminder that racism has by no means completely gone underground (I see both the more subtle aspects of racism that Jn has mentioned as well as this kind of more overt racism in my wo...

Edwards has explicitly stated that he would not accept an offer to be on the ticket from either Clinton or Obama. Whether he would stick by that, I don't know, but that is what he said.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Cerin. That is helpful to me. I was just listening to part of the NPR show On Point, and one of the guests was making the point that race is a two-edged sword in this election. It provides some obvious challenges to Obama, of course, as we have seen with the Rev. Wr...

I want to make something clear, in case it hasn't been made clear already. I agree with Cerin that the Michigan and Florida situation has been horribly bungled by the DNC, and that it never should have come to the point that it has. But it has. Where we differ (if I understand correctly) is what wou...

tinwë , I saw that too. Very disappointing. It is one thing to want to carry on and fight until the end; that is admirable. That kind of rhetoric (in my opinion) does not reflect well on her. Speaking of things that don't reflect well on her, here is a copy of the "open letter" that she s...

I think we are overlooking an important point here: that Hillary's arguments can be both self-interested and correct. I've heard both sides of the coin argued here in this thread - that it would be bad for the party if those delegations were seated because it would upend the decision of the nationa...
