Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Cerin. That is helpful to me. I was just listening to part of the NPR show On Point, and one of the guests was making the point that race is a two-edged sword in this election. It provides some obvious challenges to Obama, of course, as we have seen with the Rev. Wr...

An editorial from the New York Times, which has endorsed Clinton: Sen. Clinton and the Campaign Published: May 9, 2008 There is a lot of talk that Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton is now fated to lose the Democratic nomination and should pull out of the race. We believe it is her right to stay in the ...

I want to make something clear, in case it hasn't been made clear already. I agree with Cerin that the Michigan and Florida situation has been horribly bungled by the DNC, and that it never should have come to the point that it has. But it has. Where we differ (if I understand correctly) is what wou...

Obama picked up two more superdelegates today, including one that switched from Clinton. According to ABC News, Obama has now taken the lead in superdelegates. Other news organizations still have Clinton with a lead of varying amounts (which seems odd to me, but I don't pretend to understand politic...

I think we are overlooking an important point here: that Hillary's arguments can be both self-interested and correct. I've heard both sides of the coin argued here in this thread - that it would be bad for the party if those delegations were seated because it would upend the decision of the nationa...

He has never argued that superdelegates should be prohibited from voting contrary to the popular vote, delegate count, etc. He has only argued that it would be wrong for them to do so, because it would damage the party. I don't think so. I think the Obama camp has aggressively pushed the idea that ...

I see a big difference. Obama has never argued that any rules should be changed. He has never argued that superdelegates should be prohibited from voting contrary to the popular vote, delegate count, etc. He has only argued that it would be wrong for them to do so, because it would damage the party....

I'm going to respond to yov's previous question (reiterated by Ax) by giving a brief history of how the employment relationship has been viewed by the American legal system. I hasten to point out that this post doesn't reflect my views of how things should be, only how they are (okay, it's possible ...

It is likely either true, or very close to true. As you know the Republicans have a mish-mash of different rules for different states, some of them proportional like the Democrats use, some of them winner take or all, and some of them a complicated mix of them. I believe that many of the bigger stat...

That's actually quite a good (if elitist) point, Ax. Looking at from a fully cynical point of view, Richardson has the advantage of being Hispanic and therefore being attractive to other Hispanics, but not seeming Hispanic, and therefore not being off-putting to the group who are less tolerant of pe...
