Ah wow Obama won by a significantly larger margin than I thought anyone in this race would have won by. I wonder, if the weather in Iowa was significantly worse than it was last night do you think things would have turned out differently? I wonder...

Just to add some perspective to the issue here are two quotes from two of my friends currently in Pakistan. I'm currently in Karachi and at this moment the streets are deserted and most people are afraid to venture out and I'm sure the same is true for most other cities as well. As is inevitable aft...

Former Pakistani Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto assassinated

Now personally I don't know much about Bhutto or her politics but in my opinion any assassination of a politica...

:( I'm so sorry to hear that Jordan's dead. I really liked his books (though honestly I've only read 6) and I'm extremely saddened that he passed away before he could finish his series...

Well first of all: hello everyone! long time no see :) This was the second presidential debate I've seen so far and well honestly I wasn't very impressed by any of the candidates. Personally I pretty much disagree with almost all of Clinton's foreign policies and I really don't like her in general. ...

I voted 4. I would have voted three but I think the government should do more than 'give a hand up' to people in bad circumstances. Of course 4 isn't exactly to my liking either...

Is there an official greeting for Ramadan? It celebrates the Hajira, doesn't it? Well actually it's the month that we believe the first part of the Quran came down. There are many greetings non of which are official but usually Ramadan Mubarak and Ramadan Kareem are the ones used. Swiz, I saw that ...

I hope you are doing well. Even with all the work I have that dratted baby has gotten me hooked on his story and I just have to check up on it every once in a while.

PS: What a great way to get your daughter thinking about grades!

Of course what Crucifer forgot to mention is that when the time finally comes when you absolutely have to grade those papers (which by that time would be quite a handful) you grade them according to this grading scheme: http://www.concurringopinions.com/archives/2006/12/a_guide_to_grad.html PS: Funn...

At the end of the second day, I resigned the responsibility and suggested that the woman who was doing the main sniping and haranguing (Juror #7) do it, which ended any attempt to look at the evidence systematically.
I'm curious bt; why did you do that?

Well I've been thinking about something for a while now. Harry, Ron and Hermione never did their 7th year and they never took their Newts. I remember in some previous book most jobs they looked at required Newts right? So what do you think they did? Did they go back to Hogwarts or take the Newts wit...
