Re: Winter is Coming: A Game of Thrones (SPOILERS)
Well, Ep 9 of GOT went straight up cinematic. It was exactly what I was hoping the series would lead to, after some good friends convinced me to watch it, years ago. While I know this thread says spoilers, I am still going to try and be spoiler sensitive as this episode had stuff people had been wai...

Re: Harriet Tubman will be on the $20 bill
Sorry this is late, but as a non American, I learned about Harriet Tubman when I was little and in school. She was a pretty awesome historical figure. She might not have been taught about in many schools, because it was a woman of colour 150 years doing awesome stuff. That usually does not get told....

Re: The last movie you saw Thread
Last movie I saw was The Witch. Very good movie and amazing performances. Most of which were performed by children. Everyone speaks appropriate to the 1630's and the children all seem to fully understand what they are saying and act appropriately. While it is classed in the horror genre, it is not a...

Re: Batman vs Superman
I knew this is going to happen. I saw 300 and I liked it. I saw The Watchmen and I was in the middle, and then I had the misfortune of seeing...Suckerpunch. :( I have not forgiven Zack Snyder since. I'm fully spoiled for Man of steel and BVS and I'm not surprised that he screwed them up. So many peo...

Re: Neko Atsume (Kitty Collector)
Yes, I changed my username. :) Neko Atsume started as a Japanese only game ( I got started by my anime buddies), but due to unexpected popularity, they have an English version. :) Basically, you have a backyard, you put out cat food and toys and stray cats come to visit. When they leave, they give y...

So has anyone tried the phone app Neko Atsume? I am hopelessly addicted. Especially with their new sugar themed update.

Nice to see a thread on this. I had been following Anita's videos before her kickstarter and saw the harassment as it happened when she started her kickstarter. Someone even made up a game where a player could beat her up. :( For people who aren't familiar with her work, her Lego series is excellent...

Well even with it's drawbacks, it did change the world. and they did hint at the environmental impact. I like how he showed the bright side and dark side of it. They showed the all the social change that was occurring around it, with all the drummers, interspersed with other people (like suffragette...

OK, after taking a long break, I am just going to suck it up for arm pain since I want to talk about the Olympics (and I am still working on that report.) I am slowly catching up on the thread here. I missed the opening ceremonies at first since I was out, but my sister recorded it, but then it cut ...

I think what Primula says is more of the case with boys in school not having stuff that encourages some of them. I will say I do not think math is designed to help girls either, I think some of it is up to the creativity of the teacher, and also willingness to get extra help from students. (Although...

I am just skimming this, but I noticed how Vison mentioned how girls were taken aside and discouraged from doing math. When I was in high school a female teacher took all the visible minorities in her class aside and told them to do general or basic courses and only consider community college. I am ...

I will say I extrapolated to race, but gender matters also. I could go on about how most people I know in under represented groups, know they will be discriminated against, so they worked to get the highest credentials possible and they still don't get hired (being young and female, employers assume...
