Try to imagine how hard it is for me to NOT discuss the story with her, and just let her discover it for herself. I was biting my tongue to keep from giving away important information. I do not want to spoil it for her!! :help:

I always enjoy a chapter-by-chapter reading of LOTR, but I am usually content to just lurk. This time I feel obligated to post. :) I have a friend who is reading LOTR for the first time. She has never seen the movies and wants to, but not until she's read the book. So I've been encouraging her. I ho...

When I was telling a co-worker about my daughter's hike, she was concerned about bears. I told her how my daughter is protecting herself by wearing bells and carrying pepper spray. My daughter also is able to tell the difference between black bear dung and grizzly bear dung. Black Bear dung is rathe...

The Appalachian Trail

Some of you may know that my daughter is hiking the Appalachian Trail this summer. (It's a 2100+ mile hiking trail from Georgia to Maine.) She's only been hiking just under a week now, so is still in Georgia. I can't wait until she gets closer to us, so we can hike a distance with her. What a unique...

Reactions like that really make all the hard work worthwhile. Thanks, Wilma. I will definitely be letting everyone know when it is available. That's just what I was coming to find out: when will it be available. I seriously cannot wait to get it, and am trying to figure out how to work the fact tha...

Oh, I love this so much!! The thing is, Rebecca bought a really nice dollhouse years ago. She paid like $200 for it, and furnished it a bit, and played with it, and then well, pretty much outgrew it. She wanted to sell it at a garage sale and I bought it from her. (I really hated to see it go...

Hey. :) I joined, but have been busy with uh, well, I was reading a good book. Then I had to fix dinner. Then I took a bath. Then I watched tv....I feel like someone who has a library book that is way, way, WAY overdue. Is there such a thing as forum amnesty day? It's good to be back with old friend...

Our church has a "Festival of the Nativity" that they celebrate every year, it's this weekend. (I feel guilty that I'm not participating more this year, so I'll explain it to feel like I'm doing my part--even though the people running it won't appreciate it.) Basically, everyone donates th...
