Re: Pride and Prejudice: Adaptations of Austen

I enjoy P&P&Z as well. The fight scenes were well done.

Re: Chronicles of Amber TV Series

The first five are very entertaining. In a 60/70s fantasy way. And the good part is, unlike, Martin, Zelazney actually finished this series before he died. My favorite Zelazny is "Doorways In The Sand", not part of this series. I'd watch this. There are no dragons, though (that I can recal...

Re: 2016 United States Election

I don't think voters are really going to care about Melanomia Trump one way or the other. And Trump's response to the whole strange affair may well be fair game, but I think its too abstract for voters to care about it either. "Don't vote Trump because he had a poor response to his wife's plag...

And then there's this analysis: http://www.thehill.com/blogs/ballot-box/presidential-races/288381-experts-one-in-a-trillion-chance-melania-trump-speech According to Turnitin, there is a 1 in 1 trillion chance that two writers would write the same 16-word sequence by coincidence. There seems to be a discrepancy in the release date. https://www.amazon.com/Painted-Queen-LP-Amelia-Peabody/dp/0062201360/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1468945523&sr=8-3&keywords=amelia+peabody The headline says "July 15, 2017" and the little details further down say: "July 5, 20...

Re: 2016 United States Election

I saw the headlines about plagiarism -- can it be that all the fuss is about these two simple phrases? 'He will never, ever give up. And most importantly, he will never, ever let you down.' These are two very common ideas (never give up, never let you down), the use of 'never, ever' for emphasis is...

Re: Winter is Coming: A Game of Thrones (SPOILERS)

I totally think that Sansa took personal responsibility for Ramsay's death-by-hound. She stood there and watched, she started to turn away before the dogs began to tear in to him, but then looked straight at him while that one tore his face off. She didn't turn away in fear or shame or for any reaso...

Re: The Fellowship of the Ring in Concert

I saw the Symphony and quite enjoyed it. I bought the live performance CD. Kaitlyn Lusk was the singer on "Into the West" and I think I liked her version more than Annie Lennox. She has more depth to her voice, I think.

But I've never seen the live film score, that sounds cool.

Re: 2016 United States Election

And to make election day on a weekend OR a national holiday would help, I think. Changing the day (at least for presidential elections) would require a Constitutional amendment, I believe. But they could easily make it a national holiday. But there are enough people in power who do not want people t...

Re: Bluegrass & Appalachian folk music

My hearing is crappy and I can't even hear the difference between MP3s and full resolution CDs. I blame Eric Clapton, back in the 70s, I was at a Clapton show and stood right in front the speaker stack. Bad idea. But for bluegrass, I'm a fan of Allison Krause, and liked Mr. Stanley's live stuff. One...

New Movie "Warcraft"

Much better than I thought it would be, but my expectations were not very high to start with. I've never played the game so I don't know what relation this story is to the game. But the story was somewhat typical for a Sword & Sorcery movie. It was better than that horrible Dungeons and Dragons ...

Re: The last movie you saw Thread

I also think it's a staggeringly dumb idea. New creators on old properties seem to want to make drastic changes to give their own "interpretation" of the classic character. Some times it works, like Miller's the Dark Knight (though that was an alternate history) or Perez' Wonder Woman. And...

Re: The last movie you saw Thread

I saw the Captain America movie. It was entertaining, but nothing like the first Avengers or the first Thor movie. And I'm still mystified why Ant-Man is a character in these movies. Why pick Ant-Man of all things Marvel they could choose from? My personal choice would have been She-Hulk (Sensationa...

Agent Carter was an awesomely entertaining show. You can't take your eyes off of Atwell, she is mesmerizing as Peggy Carter. They ended it with somewhat of a cliffhanger, but nothing too frustrating. People are trying to get it back on Netflix: https://www.change.org/p/netflix-save-agent-carter-brin...

Re: 2016 United States Election

yov, it is not something to be worried about, at least in practical terms. If a Republican ran as a third party candidate, the result would simply be that the vote in swing states would be split between that person and Trump, guaranteeing Clinton's electoral college victory. There is zero chance th...

Episode 2 had some major plot advancement. And, in what may be a first for GOT, no nudity.

Saw it. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Wonder Woman was the best part of it. Though Affleck was pretty good as Bats, he was better as Bruce Wayne.
