Loved Arrival. And, to answer your question Di...yes. But she goes for it anyway, knowing. And also knowing about her daughter.

Re: Trump's America

I think one of the worst things for me so far (personally) is finding out that some of my (former) friends are really misogynistic, racist, homophobic a**holes.

Awesome game and a nail biter right up until the end! I couldn't bear to watch or even listen to it - I had a live blog feed and I kept refreshing the page.

A welcome respite from all the political cr*p. Go, Cubs! Wrigley Field overflows with joy! :D :D :D

I loved Heinlein's "Stranger in a Strange Land." I always liked Asimov's short stories best.

Re: Nobels 2012, etc.

There was an incredible photographic exhibit illustrating "Hard Rain's Gonna Fall" that I was privileged to see outside St. Martin in the Fields (in London) in 2009. The photos were enlarged and set up all around the church, along with the lyrics. Here's a link to a video of the photos, wi...

Re: Nobels 2012, etc.

Oh, where have you been, my blue-eyed son? And where have you been my darling young one? I've stumbled on the side of twelve misty mountains I've walked and I've crawled on six crooked highways I've stepped in the middle of seven sad forests I've been out in front of a dozen dead oceans I've been t...

Re: 2016 United States Election

[quote="Cerin" If you said that, it would mean you believe a majority of black people has criminal tendencies and that a majority of gay people tend to pedophillia. And would you attempt to refute that? Do you believe that any and all opinions are equally valid and people, in general, shou...

Re: 2016 United States Election

It may be "your opinion" but it is indeed very much insulting to a specific group of people, ie: men. What if I said, "If you randomly gather a group of 10 black people together, at least 6 of them will have committed a crime." Or "If you randomly gather a group 10 10 gay pe...

Re: 2016 United States Election

Cerin, you and I must live in very different worlds. I know a LOT of men and most, if not all, of them would be appalled at this kind of talk. Not so much the sexual stuff about women being attractive and so on, but the aggressive, do-it-whether-they-want-it-or-not attitude. Do you really believe th...

Re: Myers-Briggs, redux

Interesting. Here is mine. No big surprises. Glad to see my "neuroticism" is only 10%! YOU ARE HIGHLY OPEN TO EXPERIENCE Your score for openness was high, at 95%. Openness describes a person’s tendency to think in abstract, complex ways. High scorers are prone to associative thinking, mean...

I sort of view it the same way I do astrology. Fun and sometimes weirdly accurate, but not anything I take super-seriously.

Re: 2016 United States Election

I have a Facebook acquaintance - an intelligent, compassionate, otherwise rational man - who is voting for Trump. He feels that "the Clintons have had their chance" and what the country needs is a businessman who can "get the economy going again." He feels that Obama has been a &...

Re: For the love of Spock

Well, I saw this last night and I really liked it. I was glad to see it on the "big screen" (I saw it in an ArtHouse movie theatre, so the screen was not actually all that big...) It was obviously a labor of love. Highly recommend to anyone who loved Spock and admired Leonard Nimoy as an a...

Re: For the love of Spock

I went to a panel at the Star Trek con in NYC this past weekend where Adam Nimoy introduced the film and discussed how it was made. The trailer made me cry, so I can just imagine the movie. I'll be seeing it this weekend in Denver at an Art House theater. Can't wait! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Re: 2016 United States Election

Clinton doesn't help herself by refusing to answer questions about the Foundation (and the emails). If there is nothing untoward regarding either subject, why won't she talk about them? This way, she sustains the stories, while if she would answer questions, people might go on to other things. Woul...
