I raise my hand to being one that follows the thread more than comments on the threads. Sometimes, what others write eclipses what I had originally thought and sometimes there is just nothing to add to the great comments and sometimes I just don't have anything else to offer, but still enjoy reading...

Okay then, I am not the best at this, but I will start something and see if we can build on that. On reading right off on the first page. Sam jumps up with his sword drawn when Strider returns, this is after Strider has run off the wraiths. Yet Sam is ready to protect Frodo. I like how Tolkien wrote...

River, thank you for your reply. And congrats to you and yours on your upcoming special day. It sounds like your wedding is going to be lovely on the beach. Were you thinking of something in a classic wedding song sense? Here are a few more: Love Is All Around - The Trogs Unforgetable - Natalie Cole...

Book 1, Chapter XII - Flight To The Ford!!

CHAPTER XII – FLIGHT TO THE FORD I am going start us off for this chapter. I have not done the summary on this board, but if you feel I have left something important out, just say the word and I will amend this first post. This chapter is mostly traveling, heading to Rivendell. But some interesting ...

Voronwë, I have never started one at this site, but read all the ones you did start and I will be happy to take a whack at it. I have my LotR's book right next to me at work now.

Why don't I wait until say Thursday and then make the new thread?

If everyone is okay with that?

Maybe moving on to the next chapter would bring interest back? Just as observation. I am trying to be more active on this website, so I am checking it every day now. Hopefully I can add more to the discussions. Some days are better than others. Prim, it is prom, graduation and school year ending for...

Chiming in. Prim, I also love Iron Chef America, but also loved the original from Japan. SO DRAMATIC. Sometimes they show one of the old originals at 4am. I just started watching Law & Order: Criminal Intent with Jeff Goldblum now the main star. He has done two epi's and I love him, what can I s...

River, do you already have a thread for your wedding here so that I don't ask redundant questions? Is your wedding formal or casual? Is it inside or outside? Is it a large wedding or smallish? Is it a theme wedding or more traditional? I had thought that if I married again, I would like celtic music...

Cerin, I am afraid I have to disagree a bit. During the five years of my intense bible study, I was encouraged (and the bible encourages us to question as well) to question what I felt were incongruencies in scripture, especially in the NT. I was told that there was an answer, within the pages of th...

Yeah, it does get a bit messy. Belief-wise, Christians must believe that God is Trinity and that Jesus (who is God and Man) accomplished our salvation by his life, death and resurrection (in a nutshell). If a person cannot recite the Apostles' Creed without redefining words, they probably have non-...

I have been following the thread as well. Thank you Voronwë and Prim for your words. It is, in fact, easy to read that rather than just putting one's opinion of a thing and that coming off as "this is how it is" (meaning as fact) can happen when reading and not hearing the words or seeing ...

Geesh. You guys are light years ahead of my knowledge of all things Tolkien. I learn so much reading these discussions. I don't think that I really add anything to the patter. But I thought of one other thing last night. I don't know if it is true or not. But piggy backing my comment of Lúthien bein...

I am coming in late to this thread. But I would like to join in. I wanted to comment on: were the riders in Bree....really the black riders, comments. On reading further in chapter 11...When at Weathertop, they see the specks of riders far off and Merry asks if the riders can "see". Stride...

Breogan did SUCH a exquisite job on all the illustrations. The typeset and your charts are easy to read and understand. I can't wait to get read...

Solicitr, I peformed with a band for about 25 years and when we would cover Beatles tunes, our drummer had the FITS to learn it correctly. He was indeed very subtle and his timing was impecable. Agreed, no one harmonized like the Beatles did. It is something that is very fun to do on holidays....my ...

Bumping this thread. Someone asked who was the favorite vocalist, I am pulled between John and George. John just has a style, a look when he sings that I really like, his voice is in his throat when he vocalises, different and edgy. George is basic, simple...but musically, he is so distinct and vari...

One of my favorite artists. I also love Right Down the Line, but Baker Street is my all time best from him.

I read not that long ago that in 2008 he was in the hospital for liver problems and disappeared, left everything in the hospital and no one has seen him since.

Anyone have any word on that?
