Re: The challenges ahead (Biden's America)

If President Biden's Uncle Bosey was eaten, it was likelier to have been by sharks than by cannibals, although the latter possibility can't be completely ruled out.

Re: Trump Indicted by Manhattan District Attorney

Reporters often seem to lack a sense of balance and common sense. Agreed. Just because they have the First Amendment right to report on what potential jurors say about themselves in open court doesn't mean they should do so. Although in some cases , it may be that the dissemination of information a...

Re: Trump Indicted by Manhattan District Attorney

And reporters are not happy about that: "anything said in open court is fair game." In which case, maybe Judge Merchan should close the court during jury selection? If a deranged Trump supporter identifies and murders a juror using facts supplied by a reporter, can the victim's family sue ...

I see that Judge Merchan today asked the press to, essentially, stop doxing jurors.

Voronwë the Faithful wrote: Thu Apr 18, 2024 2:47 pm Well, we are going backwards. One of the jurors decided that she can't be fair and impartial after all and has been dismissed.
She also said that friends and family have asked if she's a juror in this case and she's afraid her identify will become public. Which goes to a point I made on Tuesday.

Agreed. Delay of any sort just plays into Vladimir Putin's hands. Speaking of which, one of Greene's amendments calls for the U.S. to withdraw from NATO.

Re: The challenges ahead (Biden's America)

The first time I heard of Pete Buttigieg was when someone shared this April 2019 video in which he announced that he was exploring a presidential run. What resonated for me was the lines, "There's no such thing as 'again' in the real world" and "We can't look for greatness in the past...

Earlier Donald Trump today posted about how he was surprised that he can only strike a limited number of potential jurors. But obviously if defendants could strike an unlimited number of jurors, their trials would never get past jury selection!

The U.S. House of Representatives is finally going to vote on an aid package for Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan. Speaker Johnson says the vote will be Saturday evening. And today, April...

This story has nothing to do with Elon Musk, but I note it here because I think it echoes what happened with Twitter: last year, the Park Record , a small newspaper in Park City, Utah made its first ever reference to Matthew Prince, the billionaire who co-founded the tech company Cloudfare. The Par...

Al Pacino and Jimmy Kimmel are two different people.

(Donald Trump is still worked up about this, perhaps because of this.)
