I agree with Frelga. The only vaguely political message I found in it was the old clichéd "Be nice to everyone, and don't litter", which has been thrown at us so often that I imagine people didn't see it because they've been immunized. This is what made the film tired and boring for me. Th...

I would say that it's certainly not the right one to start with. To fully appreciate Nightwatch, IMHO, one needs to have read the rest of the Watch series, which begins with Guards! Guards!, as far as I remember...

I think that the inherent problem with fantasy clichés is that it's all too easy to rewrite other fantasy. Take the Sword of Shannara, for example, AKA The Lord of the Rings on a Bad Day. The problem is that people read really excellent fantasy, and want to create their own world, but lack the skill...

I have read somewhere, recently (but I can't for the life of me remember where) that SF is a sort of a branch of Fantasy, but that while mainstream Fantasy deals with whole universes that could not, in the world that we know, be possible, SF deals largely with what MAY be possible as understood by w...

Gah. Damn those purists! PoA was the first film to capture the spirit of te Harry Potter world accurately, IMHO. The purists still think Philosopher's Stone was the best film for goodness' sake!

Read American Psycho, that's what.
I'll have you know that American Psycho is a bloody awesome book! So nyah! ;)
And Freddy Stroma as Cormac, what an arrogant Alpha male. Good-looking, though.
Excellent casting there. I hated him! :)

Well, Gambon and Rickman are probably the two best actors in the series, so it clearly doesn't matter that they haven't read them!

What River said. I, for one, thought that Rowling played down the hormones in the books waaaaaay too much. I should know. I was the same age as Harry for a lot of it! ;)

And I was unexpectedly impressed by Emma: she really made me feel Hermione's pain over unrequited love, nicely done.
That's cuz she wasn't letting the eyebrows do the acting while mumbling at the speed of light...

Actually, I saw it on Wednesday, and I loved it! Sure, there's a whole extra scene, and loads cut out, but it captures the spirit of the book. Lots of great angsty Malfoy action, and the acting from the main three was better than usual. (Harry on Felix was awesome). All in all, it was very much the ...

Bob Chilcott's "love", word's by Alfred Lord Tennyson...

You'd only need 6 singers...

Coincidentally, I have set up a vocal consort that sings stuff like this... We'd be willing to come and sing if you paid expenses... ;)

Though they never really addressed how Kirk, Sulu, and Olsen DID NOT burn up on entering Vulcan's atmosphere. I asked myself that in the theatre, and decided that the suits they were wearing must have been some sort of protective device, against suffocating in the vacuum, freezing in the vacuum and...

Personally, I found the idea that the crew were all still essentially students (an idea that I've come across several times in manga: Neon Genesis Evangelion 2 being a big one there) made the film even more exciting. A trial by fire if ever there was one. Also, it brought home that the federation we...

After all, I don't see anyone complaining about the fact that they managed to create gigantic, temporary black holes out of 'red matter'.
