Great Books discussion group

Hi. I'm interested in starting a discussion group of the Great Books of the Western World https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Books_of_the_Western_World . :read: I'd also be interested in using the St. John's list because it features music scores and SCOTUS opinions. https://www.sjc.edu/academic-pro...

artie, I think the question is, what do you intend with this discussion? :) If it's for some serious discussion purpose, like statistics on how close people get that know each other online or something like that, then this is the right forum. If you mean a bit of private chat, just out of curiousit...

How many HoF posters have met eachother?

Just a curious question: How many of the posters here have met, if ever?

I have absolutely no argument with you - yet. I simply ask for more details of the case. I would like to know more of the facts in the case.

Do you remeber the date of the lecture and when the execution of MRI occurred? Here is audio documentation of 22 Georgia executions. Certainly a list of names exists also. I don't think it would be at all difficult for you to find a list of names of those who were executed in Georgia and refresh you...

Let me see what I can do to remedy the hearsay . Note spelling. The name of the storyteller was William "Billy" Neal Moore. Here is an article originally written by bet.com about Moore. Here is his name in a listing of people whose death sentences have been commuted on humanitarian ground...

A good point, artie - although there is often no way to substantiate many stories from a system which state governments often want partially (or fully) obscured. The only people "on the outside" who can speak freely are (1) people who have been released from death row and prison altogethe...

These are just some notes on what has been posted so far. Many of my comments are short and direct but there is no smart-aleck tone implied. I've learned a lot reading everything that has been posted by you. It took me all week to review it and I will spend this week reading your continuing commenta...

It's an interesting word, measured . According to the Oxford Concise, it has two meanings: 1. rhythmical; regular in movement (a measured tread) 2. (of language) carefully considered I will agree that the definition "carefully considered" is the most commonly understood. However, if we ar...

These words caught my eye in the description of this forum: The place for measured discourse about politics and current events Voronwë_the_Faithful explains a bit more in the following quote: This forum is for measured discourse and debate regarding serious issues including politics, other current e...

I don't understand what you are saying. I didn't start this thread. I said I don't want to discuss this in public. You all started this and said you wanted to discuss it in the open. Discuss it. Here or at B77. I am conducting my own private investigation. If people want to help me with it privately...

OK.

You guys start discussing.

I am going to do a 3 month study of B77.

This study is primarily for my ownself.

I will discuss my findings with anyone who PM's me.

If the members cooperate with me I'll discuss it publicly in 3 months.

If not, I will pack up what I learn and leave.

Hello I'm Artie. I came here for the purpose that Jnyusa stated above. Many of you have recieved a PM from me requesting help in understanding the Historical Threads at B77. I think I stated my objective very clearly. I did not come here for Tolkein although you might want to think of me as a hobbit...

I am not here to start threads.

I do not believe in the message board system the way it stands.

I will engage in dialogue with a purpose toward agreement with anyone here.

I am not going to debate the obvious.
