I saw a beautiful hawk today & thought of you. We were on the highway/going fast and I don't have a camera sufficient to take such a nice photo.

For Voronwë. I think this might be a young Cooper's hawk (?)

Definitely looks like a young Cooper's Hawk to me (though I am no expert).

Here's the money shot from our walk at Wilder Ranch State Park today, but the rest of the pictures are worthwhile too.

Such a lovely corner of the world you live in V. I'm glad the seals were just sleeping/sunning themselves.

Lovely! Those banana slugs are weird. What do you think produced the scat.

Probably Bobcat. Possibly Mountain lion.

Wow. Just Wow.

I was a slightly weird little kid (who grew into a slightly weird adult). I can closely mimic the meow of a cat, the bleat of a goat, and the call of a peacock, although I haven't practiced in a while. ;) Talented, hey?

Just one of your many talents. :)

We've driven by a farm that had a live peacock sitting on the fence, but of course that's the opposite of wildlife. Indian wildlife is more spectacular.

V, have you seen those giant waves Santa Cruz area has been having lately? Poor Capitola got smashed again.

I read that some California beach got engulfed by a rogue wave. Was that in your area?

Much of the coast got hit. The most famous video was probably from Ventura in Southern California, where a wave swamped several city blocks.

This is Pacifica, just South of San Francisco.

That's pretty wild. I guess Hawaii has had some monster waves too.

Voronwë, you've been putting up some lovely photos on FB. Love the redwood one from today.

Makes me feel peaceful just looking at it.

Our next door neighbor, when I was growing up, had a peahen (beautiful blue neck, but not the big tail) who often wandered through our yard.
