Another debut...

Post by Alatar »

Tonight, the youngest of the Vinyamars, Aoife, (who most of you remember being born), made her stage debut.

I'm currently in the run of Seussical the Musical, the adult version. Now some of you may remember my eldest daughter played Jo-jo in the Junior version last year. Well, this year, her little sister, at the tender age of Two and a Half, made her debut as the Elephant Bird.

Her proud Daddy, Horton the Elephant, lifted her from the egg and said:

"Why she looks just like me, except for the wings"

"And except for the voice, cause thats how a bird sings" said Gertrude

"Gertrude, what will I do? I'm slow and I'm fat. All I know is the Earth, she'll need much more than that!"

"I have wings, yes, I can fly. You teach her Earth and I will teach her Sky"

"Just call my name, and I'll see you through"

"One small voice in the Universe"

"One True Friend in the Universe"

"Who believes in you..."

“There, peeping among the cloud-wrack above a dark tor high up in the mountains, Sam saw a white star twinkle for a while. The beauty of it smote his heart, as he looked up out of the forsaken land, and hope returned to him. For like a shaft, clear and cold, the thought pierced him that in the end the Shadow was only a small and passing thing: there was light and high beauty for ever beyond its reach.”

I do remember her being born!

This sounds absolutely wonderful! Where's the video?

Oh, my!

They hatch 'em theatrical, those Vinyamars! :)

I've never quite recovered from that amazing video of your older daughter singing, so I can't even imagine how cute the new little Elephant Bird must be. My imagination having failed, I must join my pleading voice to Frelga's: clip?

I'm sure it won't be cute at all.

What a gorgeous family you are. And Aoife is living up to her early promise.

The child is very fortunate to grow up in an atmosphere where music is highly regarded. All of my kids love music and I am happy that I at least taught them to appeciate it. While they all dabbled with instruments a bit, if I could do it all over again I would have insisted they all learn to read music and play well enough to amuse themselves.
One of my life's biggest regrets is not sticking with the guitar.

Anyway congrats and keep exposing them to the joy.

Holbytla, go "stick" with that guitar now. What are you waiting for?

mr. kams is re-learning the violin after 35 years. (He says it has now matured into a "fiddle" as we are playing bluegrass together.)
