The Kindle Books and Resources List
Re: The Kindle Books and Resources List
I read that Amazon advertises on Breitbart, and I can't buy from them anymore. It's not even a boycott, I just can't.

Oh. UGH.
However, you do realize that this is not their direct decision. These Ads are placed through electronic exchanges (I believe the story mentions that). Couple of years ago there was a furor over Pampers (or some such firm) ads on porn websites.
The petition update reflects that. They are trying to figure out a way to use a blocker for Ads placed through the exchange.

Other companies managed to pull their ads. Amazon is at least as savvy as Kellogg's, I imagine.

And how is Jeff Bezos, owner of Washington Post, living with this?

“There, peeping among the cloud-wrack above a dark tor high up in the mountains, Sam saw a white star twinkle for a while. The beauty of it smote his heart, as he looked up out of the forsaken land, and hope returned to him. For like a shaft, clear and cold, the thought pierced him that in the end the Shadow was only a small and passing thing: there was light and high beauty for ever beyond its reach.”

Re: The Kindle Books and Resources List
Today's U.S. Kindle deals include Ancillary Justice by Ann Leckie. This book, first of a trilogy but excellent on its own, won the Hugo, Nebula, and Campbell awards when it came out (the EGOT of science fiction), and deserved them. It's imaginative, full of action, and deeply human, with a protagonist who was once a sentient spaceship/crew and now, in the form of the last surviving member of the destroyed ship's crew, must find her way in the world as a solitary human instead of a powerful collective intelligence. It's excellent SF.
Oh, and there's a Georgette Heyer, too: Devil's Cub, for those like me who collect these whenever they show up as a deal.

Ursula Le Guin's THE DISPOSSESSED—in my opinion, one of her two finest novels—is on sale on Kindle (and all other formats) for $1.99 today.

Re: The Kindle Books and Resources List
Yay! I bought it in 2011 (I am so glad Amazon puts up the little notes right at the top of the page: "You purchased this book on December 3, 2011." It's saved me a lot of money. Yes, I have too many Kindle books.)
(And I wish they had an easy way to index and search your Kindle library. This is one of the clunkiest aspects of the Kindle experience.)
