I was watching the news in the lunchroom and this just flashed!
Gunman Opens Fire At Montreal College
Wednesday September 13, 2006
A man on a rampage has extracted a terrible price at a Montreal college.
Police say a gunman dressed in military fatigues stormed into the cafeteria at Dawson College in the Quebec city and opened fire. At least three people were shot before anyone was even aware where the bullets were coming from, and there are indications they may have been critically injured.
Students and staff fled screaming in panic as the intruder continued sending off round after round, and one student believes at least 20 shots were fired.
Teachers immediately began pounding on classroom doors, telling people to get out as fast as possible, unsure where the gunman might be heading next.
Early reports suggest at least one person was hit in the neck, but there's no word on the condition of any of the victims.
Reports from the scene are confusing, but some witnesses have suggested there may be other gunmen roaming the halls.
It's a terrible kind of déjà vu for residents in the city. Many still remember the infamous crime of Marc Lepine, who stormed L'Ecole Polytechnique on December 6, 1989, randomly shooting as many women as he could.
Memorials for the 14 he killed are still held every year, but there's no indication on the motive for this latest sudden and senseless violence.
