The Tolkien Translation Game!
Re: The Tolkien Translation Game!
In the houses of healing? Or in FoTR?
'You just said "your getting shorter": you've obviously been drinking too much ent-draught and not enough Prim's.' - Jude
Re: The Tolkien Translation Game!
Your first guess. Spoken by someone we don't meet in FoTR, but whose loquacity more than makes up for it later.
Re: The Tolkien Translation Game!
Is this again related to the diatribe on King’s foil?
'You just said "your getting shorter": you've obviously been drinking too much ent-draught and not enough Prim's.' - Jude

Thou hadst better believe it!

Didn’t we just do this section??

Looking back over the last few pages, the previous quote was from A Conspiracy Unmasked, the one before that was from The Hobbit, and the one before that was from The Silmarillion. I don't know how far back you need to go to see something from the Houses of Healing, but I'm sure you'll find some quotes from there eventually.

From memory is it Ioreth? "Still it smells sweet when bruised does it not? Well, not sweet, maybe wholesome" or something to that effect.

Your memory is good! It's the first sentence in your quote. Your turn!
Re: The Tolkien Translation Game!
Slightly sneaky one. Clue is elsewhere over the past few days

Me too.

Galadriel sang to the departing Fellowship:
Ai! laurië lantar lassi súrinen,
Yéni únótimë ve rámar aldaron!
Yéni ve lintë yuldar avánier
mi oromardi lisse-miruvóreva
Andúnë pella, Vardo tellumar
nu luini yassen tintilar i eleni
ómaryo airetári-lírinen.
of course I recognize it - it has my name in it!

New quote:
Go ahead and grow a beard. I can see it. But today there is no need to fear.
In the midst of winter, I found there was, within me, an invincible summer. ~ Albert Camus
Re: The Tolkien Translation Game!
Was it spoken by a hobbit?
