Okay, how's that for a stereotype? LMAO!! :rotfl:
When the night has been too lonely, and the road has been too long,
And you think that love is only for the lucky and the strong,
Just remember in the winter far beneath the bitter snows,
Lies the seed, that with the sun's love, in the spring becomes The Rose.

Supernatural politeness could actually be an amazingly strong power. I'm imagining someone so incredibly, overwhelmingly polite that no one could ever be mad at them or have the heart to cause them harm. That would be an incredibly hard to stop superpower!

Yeah, but even comic book superheroes have to have a modicum of plausibility.

The best thing about Marvel comic superheroes was, unlike the DC superheroes they sometimes got mad at each other. This made them seem more human and easier to relate to. Ben Grimm of the Fantastic Four even had a street gang that was constantly pulling pranks on him, the Yancy Street Gang. It was SO funny!

The dumbest thing I've ever bought
was a 2020 planner.

"Does anyone ever think about Denethor, the guy driven to madness by staying up late into the night alone in the dark staring at a flickering device he believed revealed unvarnished truth about the outside word, but which in fact showed mostly manipulated media created by a hostile power committed to portraying nothing but bad news framed in the worst possible way in order to sap hope, courage, and the will to go on? Seems like he's someone we should think about." - Dave_LF

We started to watch Endgame last week, and it was immediately apparent that we needed to see "Captain Marvel' first. So we stopped Endgame and rented Captain Marvel and then got back to Endgame.

I'm kind of tired of the required viewing thing. Endgame implies that that is the end of that, though. Are they truly done now?

I doubt it. The Marvel Movies are intended to be treated like a Big Screen Series. You wouldn't jump into Random Episodes of Game of Thrones and expect to know whats happening. Its the same thing. If they had to explain every previous movie the recap would take longer than the movie, and if they make them completely standalone you lose all the depth that the connected universe brings. I think thats just the price of entry.

Just think of it like a TV series. If you want to understand everything that's happening, you wouldn't skip over episodes, would you?

Oh, definitely not. You definitely could not watch the last Spiderman movie without having seen Endgame first.

Oh... OK.... well, it's getting complicated enough that I'm going to have to refer to a chronological list from now on. (I just did so) We've missed "AntMan and Wasp". And I guess we can watch Spiderman Far from home now.

It gets confusing when you aren't all that invested in the series and wait for them to come out on Bluray first, and sometimes to wait for the bluray to get cheaper before you actually buy.

None of the TV shows matter when watching the movies. I don't think the Netflix shows are really meant to be part of the same "universe" at all.

I have dropped in and out of the MCU without being lost, e.g. I watched Black Panther without having seen the Avengers films. That said, I get the impression the Avengers films - Ultron, Infinity War, Endgame - are meant to be treated as a series.

I think the movies are important to the TV series, but not the reverse.

The Netflix series are technically set in the same universe (the bad guy in Daredevil moves in on the heels of property damage from Avengers 1, for example). Disney already said they are cutting Netflix off, though, so none of these characters will appear in future movies.

I suspect that is a prelude to resuming the series on Disney's own streaming channel.

They already said they won't resume or renew the Netflix series. And announced a bunch of their own series for upcoming Disney+, so that's probably that.

I agree. The splintering of paid streaming services is only going to encourage piracy.
