I can't wait for you to see the villain reveal!

It's true that AC is by far funnier that the "gritty" MCU shows like Daredevil. But it also has a brain and a heart.

Agent Carter has Howard Stark being portrayed as a guy very similar to Tony Stark, a cocky, smart alecky playboy. But isn't that very different from how he has been portrayed in the movies? The occasional glimpses we have gotten of Howard always make him seem like a very serious man, as I recall.

(Tip duly noted, Al!)

I'd say Howard is pretty similar to how he is portrayed in The First Avenger. When he is shown as an older man, he's more serious, but a lot has happened to him since then.

This is practically heresy but I feel like AC makes Howard into a more fun and sympathetic character than MCU past IM3 does Tony.

Hmm, good point, I don't remember his character much from the first Cap movie. I may go back and check it out again after I finish AC.

Which I should have figured.
I loved that painting of Tolkien’s!

And we were not allowed to take photos - a rule I diligently followed. Sniff.

So as I said and the other thread, I absolutely loved Endgame overall. So much about it is absolutely amazing. But of course, I did have a few gripes and my biggest for sure is that, man, they really screwed Thor's character over in this movie. I am sure that Al will agree considering he didn't like the character change in Ragnarok. I personally loved that movie, but Endgame went way too over the line from turning him into a humorous character to turning him almost entirely into a joke. And it wasn't even a particularly good joke since the movie just keeps hammering the same "lol he's a fat loser idiot now" gag over and over again. It was a little funny for the first scene or two but to have that be the extent of his character for nearly the entire movie (really, he goes back to Ragnarok in sweatpants and a bathrobe? really?) was a bummer, especially considering how the movie feel so much like it's meant to be a loving send-off to the original Avengers and this phase of the MCU. He deserved better then to be someone to be laughed at in the end.

Yeah, not a huge fan of that aspect. Also Captain Marvel was a bit of a silver bullet?

I can see that bothering some people about Marvel but I think it worked really well! She is basically Superman now, a crazy overpowered unstoppable god of a character, which can be boring, but unlike Superman, she is out all over the universe helping and protecting people. Her line that there are thousands of other planets, but those planets don't have you guys (The Avengers) was great, imo. She's not going to sit around babysitting Earth, so you can only expect her to show up at the most absolute dire need.

When she showed up, it was one of the many, many moments where my audience exploded into applause, and I was certainly joining them! :D

So this is worth watching once you've seen the movie. It's long, but its just so heartfelt.

A lot of times I don't care for stories with time travel/manipulation because it inevitably creates a bunch of logic problems and crazy plot holes. Endgame was certainly no exception to that, but man, I thought the idea of going back to revisit some of these places from MCUs past was SO fun and clever and unexpected, I didn't give a damn trying to figure out if it actually made any sense. I was honestly loving all that so much that I would have happily watched a whole movie of the time heist! My biggest issue with the whole section was that it felt too quick and mostly too easy, so I wouldn't have minded having all that timey wimey madness expanded into a fuller story, even if it would have meant splitting it into two movies! :D

As a bit of geeky curiosity, here's all the MCU movies ranked by their current IMDB scores.*

6.7 - The Incredible Hulk (2008)
6.9 - Thor: The Dark World (2013)
6.9 - Captain America: The First Avenger (2011)
7.0 - Thor (2011)
7.0 - Iron Man 2 (2010)
7.1 - Captain Marvel (2019)
7.1 - Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018)
7.2 - Iron Man 3 (2013)
7.3 - Black Panther (2018)
7.3 - Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015)
7.3 - Ant-Man (2015)
7.5 - Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017)
7.5 - Doctor Strange (2016)
7.7 - Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017)
7.8 - Captain America: Civil War (2016)
7.8 - Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014)
7.9 - Thor: Ragnarok (2017)
7.9 - Iron Man (2008)
8.1 - Guardians of the Galaxy (2014)
8.1 - The Avengers (2012)
8.5 - Avengers: Infinity War (2018)
8.9 - Avengers: Endgame (2019)

*Recent movies on imdb tend to start off with really high scores that gradually come down over time so I would take that Endgame score with a big grain of salt.

I'm surprised Dr. Strange ranked that low. I really like that one.

It's ranked about middle of the pack, so I wouldn't say it's low. I really liked it too but would say around the middle is where it belongs. :)

Just came home after seeing Avengers:Endgame, and would give it a solid 5 stars. I really enjoyed it! They did the exact opposite of what GoT is doing in its final episodes: they gave the fans exactly what they wanted! Sure, some sacrifices had to be made, but they also gave the fans some of the things they'd obviously been longing to see. That end scene had me teary-eyed!

One thing I missed - going to put it in spoiler tags:
Hidden text.
What was it that Rhodey asked Cap in that final scene, and Cap replied something along the lines of "No, I don't think so."?
Another question: in the credits, I saw that Chris Hemsworth had a dialogue coach for the film. Anyone have any idea what THAT was all about? I LOVE his accent as Thor, and I guess I just assumed that's how he normally speaks.

Anyone who watches this movie without having seen the other Marvel movies featuring these characters is going to miss an awful lot! I've seen most of them, and even I missed the significance of some of the lines that were quotes from previous movies!
When the night has been too lonely, and the road has been too long,
And you think that love is only for the lucky and the strong,
Just remember in the winter far beneath the bitter snows,
Lies the seed, that with the sun's love, in the spring becomes The Rose.

Rhodey asked Cap, are you going to tell me about your life with Peggy. He says no, I don't think so. Which is absolutely beautiful, IMO.

So glad you liked it!
