And in a city that's suffered so much already, too.

And it wasn't a "lone gunman", from what I heard.

If there was anything that depressed him more than his own cynicism, it was that quite often it still wasn't as cynical as real life.

Thank you Frelga for the link.
I think the New Zealand Prime Minister did a very good speech at her press conference. She said what a lot of media seems to be afraid to say. (The Toronto Star called one of the perpetrators “the gunman”. *eyeroll*)

Re: 49 Killed in a Mass Shooting in two Mosques in Christchu
Two observations:
Jacinda Arden is widely-praised for her handling of the attack. Of the three high-profile Gen-X world leaders from 2017/18 – Ardern, Justin Trudeau in Canada, and Emmanuel Macron in France – she is by far doing the best. Trudeau and Macron are both struggling. When she was first elected I was initially wary of her lack of experience (likewise with Trudeau, not so much with Macron) but she’s turned out to be a very quick study.
The shooter’s manifesto is truly a bizarre mix of extreme ideologies. Aside from the whole white nationalism thing, he argues that it’s necessary to kill non-white people to stop global warming (because they breed faster - I think - he's not clear) and expresses admiration for the Chinese Communist Party. A lot of people (the NZ PM included) have said they don’t want to give him any attention (which I understand) but I think it’s important to understand how a personal trainer in Grafton, New South Wales, who was, by all accounts, a friendly and hard-working gym employee who was popular with his clients, could end up radicalised to the point he became a mass-killing terrorist. Since I finished writing my book on war crimes trials and now that I’ve been doing a lot of research on the ideas of the Enlightenment I’ve been giving more and more thought to this question.

My feelings are studies show it’s best not to give attention.
With the prevalence of mass shootings, I feel a set of journalistic standards should be set on how to report on these incidents.
Just like with suicide reporting. Jacinda Ardern, is doing exactly what everyone else should be doing. (I was so pissed when the Toronto Star showed the terrorists picture, and the CBC gave his name. ) We need to stop immortalizing these mass shooters. This terrorist said he was inspired by a previous mass shooter, and the Toronto van attack guy said the same thing.
