Your head is too short for your feet!
The Tolkien Translation Game!
Re: The Tolkien Translation Game!
Oh, for Gandalf's sake. Here's the new quote:
Re: The Tolkien Translation Game!
'You just said "your getting shorter": you've obviously been drinking too much ent-draught and not enough Prim's.' - Jude
Re: The Tolkien Translation Game!
Hint: the speaker is to your left.

Bud?
If there was anything that depressed him more than his own cynicism, it was that quite often it still wasn't as cynical as real life.

Sam at Amon Hen? Something like "Whoa there Sam, your legs are too short so use your head"? (From memory, so may not be accurate...)

Re: The Tolkien Translation Game!
That was actually word-perfect! Your turn!
Re: The Tolkien Translation Game!
Fortunate enough to reach this speed.

Re: The Tolkien Translation Game!
Is the word “fast” in the original?
'You just said "your getting shorter": you've obviously been drinking too much ent-draught and not enough Prim's.' - Jude
Re: The Tolkien Translation Game!
Is it spoken about Shadowfax?
Re: The Tolkien Translation Game!
Yes please!
Re: The Tolkien Translation Game!
Is it spoken during the journey from Hobbiton to Bree?
Re: The Tolkien Translation Game!
Hm. Gollum said "More haste, less speed," unless it was the other way round.

Re: The Tolkien Translation Game!
This brings up a protocol question we should settle for future quotes: if Gollum is the speaker and someone asks "is it a hobbit", should the answer be yes?
In the past I've said "former hobbit", but that just gives it away.

Re: The Tolkien Translation Game!
Gollum is one of a kind, so saying no is not exactly untrue. On the other hand, he's one of a kind, so "former" or "kinda" Hobbit is more true. I don't know, but it's not like delaying the correct guess is the point of the game.
