Wow, good capture.
If there was anything that depressed him more than his own cynicism, it was that quite often it still wasn't as cynical as real life.

Re: Nature Pics
So atmospheric!
“There, peeping among the cloud-wrack above a dark tor high up in the mountains, Sam saw a white star twinkle for a while. The beauty of it smote his heart, as he looked up out of the forsaken land, and hope returned to him. For like a shaft, clear and cold, the thought pierced him that in the end the Shadow was only a small and passing thing: there was light and high beauty for ever beyond its reach.”

I was hit hard by the Manchester bombing last night, the place where the bomb exploded was exactly at the spot where I used to collect my son after he had been at a concert at the arena.
Feeling lonely and a bit desperate I headed off to the most Southerly Point in the Island for some solace
this is the view to the south, the lump of rock you can see is called the calf of man
Sun setting from SSW looking towards Ireland
apologies for the bit of car and the litter bin, I have some nice old church yard pics to share with you much more my forte

Since 1410 most Welsh people most of the time have abandoned any idea of independence as unthinkable. But since 1410 most Welsh people, at some time or another, if only in some secret corner of the mind, have been "out with Owain and his barefoot scrubs." For the Welsh mind is still haunted by it's lightning-flash vision of a people that was free.

They are lovely pictures.
Re: Nature Pics
Apparently there was a spectacular display of Northern Lights Saturday night, seen as far south as California. Alas, I didn't know and was asleep. Did anyone see it?

Re: Nature Pics
I discovered a great stretch of nature trails today. Only about ten minutes' drive from my house.

Very pretty! The purple asters are a favorite of mine, especially paired with goldenrod. (And even prettier if there's blackberry in the mix in the fall!)

Re: Nature Pics
I did! It is truly stunning. What caught my eye most often, though, was the stream of lights and the glow around them moving up the mountain toward the summit. A solid line of climbers who have to leave the last base camp not long after dark if they're going to make the summit in daylight.
